Writing this review 30 days following the passing of my dad, mother's husband of 58 years.
We chose Compassus Houston as my parents became acquainted with Compassus consultant, Ashley Aly, the past two years at Brazos Tower at Bayou Manor. Ashley has clients there and she has a sincere, kind, caring manner. We've come to learn that Ashley's daily rounds include Methodist Hospital, St. Luke's Hospital, and MD Anderson Cancer Center in the Texas Medical Center, and Memorial Hermann Hospital.
My father was diagnosed with Alzheimer's 7 years ago and cancer in January, which spread to his lungs. He fell in his apartment and was taken to Methodist Hospital. Surgery was done for a broken arm and hip. The lung cancer, however, proved to be too much. We needed hospice care for Dad's prognosis. Researched other large, hospice firms, local mom-and-pop's, toured Houston Hospice next to Ronald McDonald House, but it was Ashley and Compassus that had the best solution, services, and resources for us. Ashley's established relationships with Methodist and Bayou Manor proved well, and Dad was discharged from Methodist by ambulance to skilled nursing at Bayou Manor. A hospital bed, oxygen tanks, supplies, nurses, and a minister were waiting for Dad. My dad passed 4+ hours after arriving at his home away from home.
Grateful to the Bayou Manor staff, especially Tony Talley, for their exceptional care.
Ashley contacted the funeral home, who arrived two hours after Dad passed. Dressed Dad in favorite clothes with help from a Compassus nurse and a longtime caregiver before he left.
If you need hospice help now, call Ashley Aly at Compassus.
I'm receiving free grief counseling by phone for up to 13 months with Peggy Smith of Compassus. Peggy calls me without me having to call her. She is experienced with survivors' grief and adjusting to life without our loved ones. This is another invaluable benefit. Thank you, Peggy.
My prayers for God's love and comfort to anyone reading this.
