The reason I give this place a bad rating is because of how they treat their customers.



I tried to return something without a receipt. It was new and in the package, with all of the tags, I didn't open it. A friend bought it for me but I already had one. I've been shopping at Hot Topic forever so I know the policy on the back of all of their receipts is to give store credit for new items returned without one and I was fine with that. The employee I talked to refused to take it back because there was no receipt, even though that's against store policy. I had ask to talk to a manager and when she came out, she started holding it up to the light and inspecting every corner of it. She asked me where I got it from and I explained a friend bought it and I already had one, so I don't know which location she went to. She kept pressing me for which location, and that I needed to return it to the location I bought it from, which is also against Hot Topic corporate policy. I can return merchandise to ANY location. She started asking me how many times I've made returns to Hot Topic which is maybe once in the past year, and she said if I kept returning stuff eventually I wouldn't be able to return any more. Excuse me? I buy tons of stuff, made one return in the past year if that many, and I'm being treated like some scam artist. She scoffed at me and DID give me store credit, but I was not treated like a customer at all. I will still shop at other Hot Topics but never this location again.
