waiters are to give you drinks refills, get you another item if you want to add dessert or anything, extra nakpins/silverware, condiments, to-go containers, resolve any problems. I utilize a waiter there as much nearly as any other restaurant....but you only need to tip based on service. If you dont use them, dont tip etc, and you don't tip as much as you do full service restaurants. Also tipping at any place goes partially to the busboy/girl too - waiters share a percentage or a dollar per table to them and a bartender too, if there is alcohol at a place. Hope this helps... :-)
