Provided by YP.comI had a very long and drawn out situation with Southern Front Doors. I purchased two doors from them, and after 8 weeks, they were ready for installation. It was longer than I was told, but good work should be expected to take a long time to complete. However, upon installation, they did not properly fabricate my front door, as they installed the wrong glass. They assured me that the proper glass would be installed, and they would come out and replace it. When they did, the installers (who were only doing what they were told) tried to replace the glass, but in doing so, damaged the wood of the door, effectively destroying it. I was not pleased, and they replaced the door in about two weeks time. Of course, when it was time to reinstall the door, they told me that there would be a wait, as their installers were booked up. I had to remind them that I had priority, as my door should have been properly installed long ago. They came out two days later. I finally had a front door. Had they had better quality control, this never would have happened.
On my second door, which was supposedly purchased from a third party (and therefore cheaper) was installed, I immediately noted some poor craftsmanship on the exterior. For one 14" long section, there were 17 nail holes in the piece of wood. A bit excessive. My concerns were heard, but ultimately, were discounted as they said they saw nothing wrong with it. (even the installers, when trying to fix it, agreed that it was poor workmanship) Eventually, I talked to the owner who reiterated that they would do nothing to fix it. He told me that they manufacture those doors, so it's not a "third party". And he instructed his workers to put more nails in the mouldings, as they had had problems with them falling out. Why not just use better adhesives, and create tighter joints, rather than just destroying beautiful wood with nails? Where is the craftsmanship?
I'm resolved that they did poor work, and won't do anything to fix it. Be warned!
Sam, the owner, was very matter of fact that he saw nothing wrong. He faulted me for choosing a natural finish, whereby his workers couldn't fill the nail holes with putty and blend it in with the stain. He was shocked that I would choose a natural finish because I enjoy the natural beauty of the wood! Imagine that! Anyway, I spent $1000 on a door that looks poor, and I will be sure to tell everyone that asks where it came from so they can avoid making the same mistake as me. It's sad...

Provided by YP.comBuyer Beware It took over 7 Weeks to get my door they make you sign a waver stating if you back out they keep $75.00. Well we finally got the door the installation was poor and the door is discolored in some spot. They are not doing anything about it. I also read these reviews before buying from Southern Front Door I wish I would have listen. Please don't make a $1500.00 dollar mistake. Deal with Lowes or Home depot they stand behind the sell.

Provided by YP.comAbout a year ago we decided to get a new front door for our home. After visiting Southern Front Door (SFD) approximately 3 times, we decided on a 6/8 Davenport 2/3 arch lite slab door with patina and iron came. The door cost $1,400 and was paid in full with our credit card on 8/19/2010. Approximately 4-6 weeks later, our door started to haze in between the panes of glass and it looked like there were drip marks inside. We phoned SFD and they told us the company they worked with to get this door had since went out of business Advantage Millwork Company (ADM) (within weeks of us getting this door) and basically they couldn’t offer us a warranty. SFD, after much deliberation, agreed to try and “fix” the glass. SFD door installers came out, took out our glass, put in a piece of wood and took it away for a few days. It was finally returned and re-installed and we noticed a fingerprint on the inside of the window. I was willing to let that go. However, within another month, that glass started hazing and steaming again. We contacted SFD once again, they told us that since they were no longer doing business with the ADM company that they could not assist us with our claim. We tried countless times to contact ADM directly but were unsuccessful. Finally SFD gave us the name of the company that purchased the inventory from ADM. They (at no cost to me and no obligation to them) gave me a new glass. SFD reluctantly agreed to install (glass #3). Within one month it hazed/steamed once again. I realized that this was not working. SFD refused to do anything further and left us with a door that was less than one year old, three glass replacements later that looks horrible. They said we could pay an additional $400 to get a new (different style) glass. For obvious reasons, we are not going to pay an additional amount of money for something that we don’t want!
