It also regulates the selling, advertising, labeling and distribution of alcoholic beverages. The commission reviews the shipment of alcoholic beverages in Texas. The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission operates an enforcement division that regulates Alcoholic Beverage Code and other state laws. Founded in 1935, its commissioned peace officers conduct investigations related to public intoxication, bootlegging, prostitution, gambling, narcotics, weapons and organized criminal activities. In addition, the commission operates licensing, compliance, education and prevention divisions. Headquartered in Austin, Texas, the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission also maintains a location in Houston.
