Livingston County Sheriff Department s mission is to protect the lives and property of the citizens who live in, work in and pass through Livingston County, Mich. Its divisions include the detective bureau, dive team, handicapped patrol, Internet safety, jail, K-9, marine division, mounted division, fire investigation unit and road patrol unit. Its civil duties cover a wide range of court papers, such as summons and complaints, subpoenas, small claims, garnishments, tax deeds and restitutions. Its detective bureau is a multi-faceted investigative unit, which primarily follows up on complaints initially taken by uniformed deputies. Livingston County Sheriff Department detectives conduct investigations using a myriad of methods, such as interviewing in detail the victims, witnesses and potential suspects collecting and preserving evidence, processing crime scenes, conducting surveillance and obtaining search warrants.
