We moved to Whetstone AZ in August, 2017. We chose Waste Management because it is a large, well known company. We receive our bill via email, and pay it through our bank's online bill pay service. Waste Management, although a large company, does not have a direct funds transfer agreement with our bank (Chase) , so the bank sends them a check via regular mail for the specified amount which can take up to 7 days for delivery.
In March of 2018 we did not receive a bill via email but got a past due notice with a late pay fee attached. Even though we had not received the original bill we paid the requested amount. In February of 2019 we received our email bill and paid it through the bank as usual. That was the last bill that we received prior to July of 2019. On July 9 our trash was not picked up, and again on July 12. On July 15 we received an email saying that our service had been suspended.
The same day we received an email bill that included late fees and administrative charges. Again using Chase Bank's bill pay service we paid the specified amount, even though we had not received the regular bill nor a late pay notice. After a week the trash pickup still had not occurred. After a many attempts to reach customer service we were told that they had not received the payment and that they would investigate the matter. About a week later we received a telephone message asking us to provide proof that the bill had been paid. We went to our bank and had them fax the proof of payment to Waste Management. Waste Management has not contacted us nor has trash pickup service been resumed. Today, Saturday, August 3 we received a message from our bank that the check that they sent had been returned as undeliverable, although the address used by the bank was the same one that they had used previously for paying the bill. Any attempt to reach Waste Management's so called customer service today has not been successful. Our attempts to interact with customer service during this whole problem has been extremely frustrating. For such a large company as Waste Management they do not seem to be concerned with public relations. I recommend that you do not use Waste Management for your trash pickup service.
