Huricane Hanks

Arrived about 6:15 Got Flat Beer.Put order in and only got a salad at 7:30.When someone asked (Some Blond ) how everything was going we said "We just got a salad after an hour" She said "That was beyond her control ,that;ss the Waitress's job"Isn 't the waitress in her control??after waiting another `1/2 hr and seeing three other tables who had arrived after us get served ,we decided to leave. They then said we could be served in 5 more minutes if we waited..No way.I rated this place one Star because that was the lowest. They said they only had 2 cooks that nite that's why meals were slow .After reading about the cook who they screwed around in a previous review I guess that's why,Save you money and aggravation and go to Sam's at Hudson Beach.Food and Service much Better.Anyway this guy will probably be closed by the Summer anyway.

More like "Tropical Depression Hanks"

I used to go to this restaurant years ago when it was called "Mikes Dockside" and I had lots of good times there. So I recently applied there to work as a cook on Monday. I have almost 2 decades of cooking experience here on the gulf and they told me they would give me a trial run to see if I knew what I was doing. I agreed, and worked that night.

On my end everything went smoothly, I just primarily focused on keeping the fryers going alongside the main entree orders and did my best to keep up with the orders as they came up, they didnt have any complaints of my service, and was offered a job there the following Wednesday.

On Wednesday after being offered the job, I wanted to discuss wages and hours before I accepted the position. Basic normal stuff you would do when you get a job. They told me 8 bucks an hour, I tried to negotiate for 10 bucks an hour, so I told them to give me some time to consider it. They asked me to stay and help prep for a few hours since they just got thier shipment in, and offered to pay me cash for the hours I worked and I agreed. As I was there doing prep about an hour in, I asked the kitchen manager if I could discuss with my wife the wages and get back with her the next day, she told me that wouldnt be a problem.

Before I left that evening I asked Tropical Depression Hank to pay me the cash for what we agreed on, he got beligerent and said the cooking manager said I was "to slow" and not to come back. I thought he was just kidding at first, after all I was just offered a job 2 hours earlier, and now I'm suddenly "too slow"..... (Basically my sense of self worth was intimidating to him and he didnt feel comfortable with someone working there that wasn't coming across as desperate for a job)

My observations of the place are mixed though, first of all I was told they had recently gotten a 98% on the health inspection. I liked that, but there are other cleanliness issues that were not up to par that I did have issue with. For example the grill cook never washed his hands, and had a cold. I made it a point to observe things like this and everytime he would go out for a cigarrette break he would go straight to the grill afterwards. To top it off they had some rancid smelling meat on skewers, in the refrigerator. I asked if they wanted to toss it out, the kitchen manager told us no and made it thier "daily special." When we finally got an order in for the daily special, the grill cook grabbed the most rancid looking ones lying in the bottom of the container and cooked them and served them to a customer to my disbelief...

You can assume Im just doing this because Im a bit bitter and just wrote this to be spiteful. To be honest with you reader, I am bitter and cynical, and I hope my words reach Ol Hurricane Hank's office desk and he reads this and realizes that people can have a voice and let it be heard, then perhaps he will be more careful about how he treats the next person who comes in there needing a job, because who knows what they might observe, and post next to me here. Im tired of people treating other people like cattle in the name of the mighty dollar. I just believe that if you want people who are quality minded and want to put out a good product, who will show up on time, clean, and with a good attitude, you dont just turn them away so you can save a buck. Hell I even showed up the next day and offered to go ahead and accept thier meager wage so I could just have something going on on the side, and they were rude to me.

great food at great prices

I have recently gone to Hurricane Hanks, and the food there was exceptional the prices are very reasonable.. They have live music on the weekends, the bands are very good... The tikibar reopened on January 9th and was packed... everyone at Hurricane Hanks are very polite and quick to take care of your needs. I would definately recommend you go there. Its a great place..

overpriced food

Used to be Mike's Dockside. They had a great menu at reasonable prices. Now is overpriced. They do not have the Tiki bar open,so you're basically sitting in the parking lot (NO atmoshere at all). Took out pool table. Horrible entertainment when we went. Basically ! man karaoke (the guy couldn't sing & didn't know the words!) Sorry to see Mike's gone! Won't be going back.
