Founded in 1982, Hospice of Huntington provides hospice care to patients in Cabell, Wayne, Mason and Lincoln counties in West Virginia and Lawrence County in Ohio. The center provides physical, emotional and spiritual care for terminally ill patients and their families. Located in Huntington, W.Va., it serves more than 200 patients each day in their homes, nursing homes and assisted living facilities. The center provides services to patients suffering from cancer, Parkinson's disease, strokes, multiple sclerosis, and heart, lung, kidney and liver diseases. It employs medical directors, nurses, certified nursing assistants, social workers, grief support counselors and patient care volunteers. The center s programs and services include specialized support, such as emotional guidance and support before and after the death of a patient.
