Provided by YP.comHildegard's is one of my favorite restaurants. It has been under new ownership about a year now. I didn't think the food could get better, but I was wrong. My favorite dish is the Veal Schnitzle with hot potato salad. The veal is prepared upon order and is crispy yet buttery. My husband loves both the Reuben and the bratwurst dinner. Consider sharing an entree so that you can save room for dessert. There is not a bad choice when you order dessert, but my all-time favorites are the almond cheesecake or the over-sized cream horns. The spouse loves the German Chocolate cake or one of the many delicious tortes. The restaurant is tucked into an awkward space in a tiny strip mall. It is actually TWICE as large as it used to be--the original restaurant was in the area with the bar and dessert stand. The atmosphere and parking are a little underwhelming. However, sometimes the DH and I will just go for coffee (excellent) and dessert for our meal. The new owners have taken the original recipes from THE "Hildegard" (yes, a real woman and the one who started the restaurant) and have given them tiny tweaks to make wonderful recipes even better. Go for lunch if possible; seating can get difficult in the evenings.

Provided by YPmobileSlapped together horrible food. The pork schnitzel was a pounded flat fatty piece of meat with a double layer of breading covered in a powder mix gelatinous dark beef gravy with a few mushrooms thrown in. Beef gravy on pork? The potato salad that was suppose to be the warm version, was water logged potato chunk slices, heated up quickly, splashed with vinegar and there may have been one or two pieces of bacon in there. The house salad was wilted, and what looked like scrap iceberg lettuce from a few days ago, with over ripe tomatoes that had the 'almost ready to rot' taste. The cream cucumber salad was decent, but it was definitely not the traditional marinated overnight cucumber sour cream dill authentic recipe. If you crave reconstituted canned or packaged meals this is the place for you.

Provided by YP.comJust had a family gathering for my daughter's 20th birthday. The food was wonderful and they went out of their way to make things special for her. They had ballons and a Happy Birthday banner on the wall. I no longer have any teenagers, but no matter how old they get they love balloons. We were so stuffed, she had to get her Rasberry Chocolate Grenache Torte to go. Great German food, good beer on tap, desserts to die for and they are expanding soon. You go Hildegard! Did I mention the fried potatoes?

Provided by YP.comWe eat at this wonderful German restaurant a lot. The food is great-tastes like home cooking and not microwaved. I like the chicken schnitzel and red cabbage (its sweet) and you gotta have the mashed potatoes. Its located close to down town. From Hunts. Hospital tavel south on Whitesburg just before Bob Wallace look to your left for a shopping center in the Southerland Photo shopping area (across from Kystals). If you like beer on tap they have a few great ones to pick from. You can eat inside or out. I think they close around 8:30 PM.
