The Madison County 911 Center is a computer-aided dispatch system that handles emergency and non-emergency calls for fire rescue and abatement, police calls and ambulance services. The center is under the command of the captain of the Huntsville Police Department. Its staff is comprised of several shift supervisors, more than 30 dispatchers and personnel that take calls. Each shift is manned throughout the day and night by several dispatchers and a call taker. The center dispatches police units, processes field events, and maintains and monitors radio contact with officers in the field. The Madison County 911 Center is headquartered in Huntsville, Ala.
