Provided by YP.comI bought an eight week old Marshall ferret from Cape Maid Farms. Very soon after getting him (a day or so) I realized that he was coughing and appeared to be very lethargic. After taking him to the vet it was confirmed that when I got him he was already sick with what appears to be influenza. The reason why we are not sure (this could even possibly be pneumonia or heart disease) is because this vet trip cost over $100 and to get an x-ray would be another $150 (on top of the visit fee) - and this is after I've spent $400 for my ferret and all accessories from Cape Maid Farms! I had called Cape Maid Farms not out of anger or for a demanded refund for the expenses I've now given out due to their lack of realization that my pet was sick, but to warn them that the two other baby ferrets who shared the cage with my pet may too be sick (as I got him sick and they were sharing close quarters). They were not only rude but entirely denied what I was saying in order to professionally save their own butts! I was told I would get a call back from the owner or the girl who I talked to, and I never received a call. After this I realized my poor baby ferret had a slightly protruded bottom. Cape Maid Farms briefly touched upon feeding and said I should wet the food a little for the next month. They never explained why or how much. At one point I called them and asked just how much I should wet his kibble and I was told "Just enough to change the color of the pellets" - well, that was absolutely wrong! I found out I was supposed to thoroughly wet his food and turn it into an oatmeal texture to help him eat because he's only a baby. The way they told me to prepare his food made it too hard and caused him to suffer from a slight prolapse from struggling while going potty (it was too hard and he had to push harder to pass it). The people who work here seem to have no knowledge or regard for the well being of these precious animals and it's left me angry and dissatisfied completely. Although their animals are adorable and become great pets prepare to possibly get a sick animal and deal with rude associates who can't help you or answer your questions.
