This daycare center’s director is the worse. She always criticizes the parents and have no respect for them. She wants everything on her time and is never appreciative of the parent’s efforts to comply with her demands. The workers there are nice and good with the children, but unfortunately the director doesn’t care about anything but her money. One time there was a terrible disease going around the center and all of the children were getting sick, she didn’t even care to try and isolate her center, all she cared about was trying not to have the center closed so she wouldn’t lose out on money. She makes the parents do mandatory fundraisers so she can use the money for her own personal gain. This director is unprofessional and only cares about making money. I had to remove my child out of this center ASAP. If you want a daycare center that only cares about money and not the warfare of your child’s health, this is the place to be. I STRONGLY do not recommend this place.

Excellence

We were referred to It's A Family Affair by a county child development specialist. We noticed some learning/speech delays with our son and when the county learning specialist visited him at his first daycare center, she said that we need to make a change into an environment that would help him in his development.

He has been at It's A Family Affair for almost 1 year now. And we have seen a DRASTIC improvement in his speech and learning. He comes home every day singing the songs that he learned, repeating his ABC's, counting, and talking about his school. The teachers and staff are extremely professional and caring. I talk to many of the parents and they all feel the same way we do - It's A Family Affair is a blessing to our family.

We consider our monthly bill more than a childcare expense. We call it an investment in the future of our child.

In good hands

I had my child in a childcare center before this and visited some of the top childcare centers in the area. Before visiting IAFA, I had solid requirements and a strong instinct on what I was looking for, given my dissatisfaction with the previous center. Everyone was extremely professional and the center was organized, structured and child-friendly. The staff is extremely interactive with the children, as well as the parents. I am informed daily on events and activities from the Director. Whenever we pick up my child, they are always telling me about his progress, which means they are paying attention to each child and not just shuffling them through a program. The first week my 2-year old child came home from IAFA, my husband and I saw an immediate change in him. He was really happy and excited. What we like most about this center is that the children are learning in a fun way. The previous centers that I visited are too academic without fun. Children learn best through play which is something that has been completely eliminated from our schools. But my child's learning has been accelerated and he's having a ball!

Having tried the rest, I found the best

I found It's A Family Affair after I searched frantically to find another center for my (then) three-year old daughter, and my yet-to-be-born son. The center had not yet opened, but I called and (begged) spoke to the Asst. Director after looking at photos of the new facility online. I was most impressed by the newness because the 20 or so other centers I toured were older and more cramped.

Long story short, my daughter was the second student to attend, and I have loved it since she has been there. My son began in February of this year in the infant room.

Beyond the developmental strides my children have made, I have been most impressed by the open door policy. The few concerns I had (runny noses, worn folders) were addressed immediately after I brought them to the director's attention.

I get the sense that all of the staff truly care about my children. If they're faking it, they're doing a smash-up job. All of the staff and teachers greet each child by name every morning. The staff is very professional. The center is thoroughly cleaned every evening (because I see the cleaners). And there are wonderful enrichment activites to support the academic curriculum.

I have recommended the center to many parents, and everyone that has toured was thoroughly impressed.

A Wonderful Experience

My child has attended It's A Family Affair for over a year - she started when she was 7 months old. The staff at It's A Family Affair is very professional and pleasant. As someone who is very detail-oriented, I welcome the fact that they are very organized and pay good attention to every detail regarding the children. They have provided my child with a very warm and nurturing environment since day one. My child went from being watched by me and her grandmothers to It's A Family Affair and had no problems with the transition. My child adores her teachers and enjoys going to school every morning. I am on a tight schedule, so the location of It's A Family Affair is a definite bonus - I park my car, drop her off and then walk a short distance to catch the Metro to DC. In addition, It's A Family Affair provides meals, which is a huge bonus that eliminates the nighttime/morning ritual of packing lunch, etc. Finally, It's A Family Affair provides a number of great activities for the students. My child loves attending It's A Family Affair and that makes me very happy. I have recommended it to several people and will continue to do the same.

Excellent

As a returning Soldier from the war in Iraq I was pleased to receive the many updates via email showing what my daughter was learning and participating in. The constant communication was welcome even if it does seem to be extreme at times, I'd rather be over-informed then under if that makes sense.

The staff if very professional, very kind to the children and I feel their attention to detail is exceptional. The staff is also willing to work with you through many different circumstances as long as you communicate those issues to them. My daughter was enrolled while I was in Iraq so the first thing I did when I returned was visit the school and they even went so far as to put a welcome back poster up for me....and even signed it! So not only do they cater to your childs every need, they also keep in mind the parents as well.

They have a male figure as the door greeter (not officially a greeter) and he is a stand up young Man that the children adore. The security system allows the staff to see what is going on in all parts of the facility which really comforted me the most especially in this day and age.

I honestly cannot find anything to complain about, the location is great and the community is also MUCH better than it used to be in the 80's and early 90's so it is a breath of fresh air to have an establishment of this kind in our community. Our next child will be attending here as well.

Very Respectfully,

Mr. Leonard

Unprofessional

We contacted this center and went and toured their facility. We informed them what we were looking for and they said, it wouldn't be a problem. They informed us of the next step in the process and we did that. We were told we would receive calls back and never did. We were given the run around, instead of them being honest. When a business says they are going to do something, you expect them to do it. We found another center for our child to attend. How they treated us says alot about the center and their character. It was a sign that it wasn't meant for our child attend their facility and if we would have enrolled our child their who knows what type of matters we would find ourselved in.

I certainly appreciate this potential clients consideration of our facilty and the time taken to visit our center. Here at It's A Family Affair every visit and inquiry that we receive is very important to us. In an effort to keep in touch with our potential clients, we maintain a well structured waitlist for those famiiies that we can not enroll immediately. No money is required to be placed on our waitlist, and we specifically inform parents that we will be in touch once an opening becomes available, in the order in which they applied. I do apologize for any miscommunication on our part. Anyone who visits It's A Family Affair would find our Center to be very professional and responsive. We work hard to correct any problems as well as maintain a high standard for quality and customer service.
