Provided by YP.comI wish I had read WMSC02 review before I decided to go here. The customer service is non-existent. They have a few customers that go there regularly and they know, and it seems that they are only friendly to those customers.
I am the sweetest person you will ever meet and I love people so trust and know this is the honest truth because bad experiences do happen to good people. And I am still disappointed with this place and will never go back and will warn all who ask me.
MY EXPERIENCE:
I had recently gotten a fill-in on my gel over-lay for my natural nails on Sunday. I went to Today Nails & Day Spa on Thursday for a new nail polish ONLY! I went in and asked for a new nail polish ONLY! They began by using a nail file to file off the nail polish (very uncomfortable and painful at times). The young lady who started on me, then sent me to another lady because she forgot she had an appointment coming in. Then the other lady starting to file again. I had no idea that a new polish took all of this. She then had me soak my nails in a solution that removes polish and my nail over-lay.
I stopped her before putting my nails in the solution and asked her if she understood that all I wanted was a nail polish ONLY not a full set for my lay-over. She assure me that she did and told me it's to help remove the polish. I said ok and went along, but was very watchful. After she removed the polish, again I asked her why she requested to me continue to soak my nails after the polish had been removed. She said because I need to add the gel. Once again, I said I want to keep my over-lay, ONLY polish.
Another customer explained to me that they use a gel that is the polish and it replaces what they are removing. At this point it was already taking too long and my husband was in the car waiting on me for 30 minutes, as so he thought but it was taking longer, just for a new polish ONLY! I then was exhausted from trying to explain myself and said ok, maybe this is better. BUT, she kept most of my over-lay and broke my natural nail on one of my fingers, so now all my fingernails are long except one and that was okay to them. I told her she broke my nail and she didn't bother to apologize, in fact she said nothing. (customer service non-existent).
Then transferred me a third time (mind you, for a simple nail polish) to guy who polish the gel over the uneven over-lay she left on my nails. I asked him, are you guys going to fix my broken nail? He said no. So, I said well something needs to be done to fix this. He just lifted his shoulders and said nothing. I looked at my nails and just wanted to cry:
1. They didn't understand what I wanted and never bothered to understand what I wanted.
2. Kept trying to give me something I kept insisting I didn't want and yet forced on me anyway. "Telling me what I want"
2. She broke my nail, didn't apologize and wanted to charge me $20.00 (I had just paid $30.00 4 days before, for an over-lay) for a new nail polish ONLY!
3. Transferred me to 3 people for a simple new nail polish ONLY!
4. Overall ruined my over-lay.
In the end, I stopped him before he did anything else and informed him, "I'm sorry but this is not what I asked for or want but I will gladly pay for what she has done already". He then got upset and said "Ok. You can go. We are done". I insisted to pay again but he got up and left the table and began to talk in his language to the two other ladies who started this mess.
If you want a great experience go to NAILS ETC on 12th Street NE. I can sense a group of people who love what they are doing and want to please their customers. They call you honey :-) and don't give you attitude when you ask them to file this or fix that as they are working on your nails. They want to give you exactly what you want to pay for.

Provided by YP.comThe short version: they burned my face in two places with excessively hot wax causing scars only days before my wedding and did not offer any apologies or concessions.
A few weeks ago I went to Today Nails and Day Spa to get services in preparation for my wedding. It looked clean and it was convenient in terms of location. I had been there before with no major problems so I figured it was safe. I was certainly wrong! The woman who was doing my facial waxing was rushing the job and did not remove the hair the first time. When she gave me the mirror to take a look there was clearly still hair left all over the area. After I pointed it out to her she tried to convince me that the hair was not there (though we were both looking at it) and then begrudgingly went to get the wax wand she was using to touch up the area. Without even taking a moment to let the wax cool she applied it directly to my face. Before I could even say ouch she was applying it to the other side. I Immediately told her it was too hot, but it was too late. She then ripped the wax off, and a burning sensation came over the area. Even after she slapped the oil on I could sense that the area was unusually raw. By the next day that had turned into a red mark, and the day after that I awoke to scabs above my lip. Given that this was now only 5 days before my wedding I prayed that the burns would heal in time. The scabs did fall off, but they left behind two large dark marks on my face. I had to have the wedding makeup artist apply extra makeup to cover them. When I returned form my wedding, which was out of the county, I went to the Today Nail salon and Spa to report the incident. Not only were they rude an unapologetic, but also they said that since I had other blemishes on my skin a couple more marks shouldn't matter. They continued to try to tell me that it should fade in a week ( I did mention it had already been three and they were still there). Then the lady who had done the waxing tried to say that I must have sensitive skin and that's why the wax burned me, or that perhaps it was an allergic reaction. Never mind the fact that I pointed out that it was too hot at the time. Their excuses continued for another 10 minutes when I finally just told them I would take my business elsewhere. To all others BEWARE. The scars you may be left with are not worth the convenience of using the neighborhood nail salon and spa.
