Calvary Missionary Baptist Church is a growing local New Testament church located in Idabel, Oklahoma. Calvary MBC was organized on August 20, 1950 and has been faithfully serving the Lord since that time.Calvary MBC associates with the ABA ( American Baptist Association ), the BGAO ( Baptist General Assembly of Oklahoma ) and the Macedonia Association of Southeast Oklahoma.Calvary Baptist Church was organized on Sunday afternoon, August 20, 1950 at 2: 30 pm in the Cosmo Club. Those sitting on the council were: Moderator - Bro. Roy Davis of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church ; Council Clerk - Bro. Victory Powers of First Baptist Church of Haworth ; Reading of Articles of Agreement and Church Covenant - Bro. S.J. McCarrell ; Organization Prayer - Bro. Hardy of Central Baptist Church ; Organization Sermon - Bro. Reuben Leslie. After charter members adopted the Articles of Agreement and Faith, and took the Church Covenant with joined hands in an unbroken circle, she was officially declared a Missionary Baptist Church and ready to do business for the Lord.Those who entered into this covenant were: Ernest, Dorothy and Betty Tipton, John and Euna Farley, Marcie Dunning, Elizabeth Bloodworth, Dale and Geneva Finney, Carol Cornett, Alex and Ruby Coffman, Harrison Coffman and Joann Freeman. The first members to join the church were Bro. and Sister T.R. McBrayer.The church bought the first of four pieces of property on August 10, 1952 for $2, 800.00. This property had a block house on it and the church remodeled this house for worship in September, 1952.
