Description Of Work:
Rene and his team removed a portion of existing dry stack retaining wall in the front, remove all plant material, prepped the area using standard aggregate base material and drainage, and installed three tiered retaining walls. He used Highlands II wall units totaling 250 face feet and back-filled behind each retaining wall with topsoil to achieve a level grading. He then put in 4 cubic yards of mulch and helped in choosing perennials that would survive in the space.
Comments:
Rene completed three jobs for us over the course of four years. A single wall in our backyard (about 250 face feet) for a play gym in 2009, the three tiered wall in front (this review and pictures) in 2010 and a stone walkway over concrete in 2011. We have spent a total of $12830 with him on our current home.
All of Rene Giron's contracts that I have state a 5 yr warranty on all work. At three years, the bottom and tallest wall in our front yard had begun to show a compromise in structural integrity.
Although, I recommended to Rene geo-grid should be used behind the first and tallest wall (per manufacturer recommendation) I was told it wasn't necessary. Rene has been out to the house a couple times in the last 9 months to look at the wall and promise me a date to do the warranty work, but alas, has never completed the work in spite of several promised service dates that come and go. Each promised service date we take off work and wait. Each time he no shows and doesn't return our calls. He waits a few weeks, month, several months and then reemerges with a bigger and better excuse than the last one on why he disappeared.
It is disheartening to say the least. My husband and I were one of Rene's first big residential jobs and we had no issues recommending his services to anyone and everyone afterward. His back wall is holding up. The walkway is starting to show signs of cracking, but in all we were pleased with all the work he had performed to date. I understand warranty work would be a loss of profits to his company, but after spending nearly $13K with him (and additional work we need done on the property) I was shocked when he became flaky. He tried to tell me this was his first warranty job. If that is the case, wouldn't you want to right your wrong and move on? Wouldn't you be empathetic to the homeowner for a failure that was your fault and not theirs--especially when the recommendation for what should have been done was already provided and you refuted it?
This review and a complaint with BBB has been filed. We have also filed a complaint with the MO Attorney State General. Rene is not licensed appropriately for his trade and has been indefinitely removed from all searches on Angie's List. We have retained a lawyer and will be working with him to have the work completed, or paid for by Rene.

Provided by YP.comI made the mistake of helping out Rene.....I paid him all of his bill before the work was completed because he was in a financial bind. As a thank you he has ignored all my phone calls and texts. He doesn't call me and doesn't seem to care that he has screwed me over. VERY DISAPPOINTED in Rene. He doesn't communicate and doesn't take his commitments seriously. Don't hire him. I would rate him a 0/5 it possible.
