Provided by YP.comTo whom it may concern,
I would like to begin by saying I have been selling and donating to Once Upon a Child for 4 years now at the same location of US 31, Indianapolis, IN 46227.
Today my experience was so horrific that I have decided to never give Once Upon a Child my business in the future.
While in line waiting to sign in and give my items to the employee, another customer asked how much I would like to sell my daughter’s old tinker bell toy storage/chest for. The employee, named Vanessa (her name tag was marked with a heart for the V), immediately stated in a harsh and degrading manner, “Are you trying to sell something? We do not allow that, you can go outside and then come back in”.
After giving my items and personal information to this employee, Vanessa, I carried the items out that she would not accept, such as stuffed animals and other toys. The gentlemen met me outside at our vehicles, like Vanessa has instructed us to do, and gave me $10 for the toy storage/chest.
I returned to the store to retrieve any money that could be made and would have donated the remaining items to the foster home that the local Once Upon a Child claims to donate items to, however I was not greeted so friendly. While waiting in line, one of the female employees said she could help me at the end. After she asked my name she and 2 other females, including Vanessa gathered in the back of the store (in plain sight). The employee returned to the register and yelled across the store to the manager on duty. The manager’s response was, “I’m on lunch, you have two other managers to ask a question”, the employee responded, “but this is a YOU question”. As the manger continued outside, ignoring this employee, she looked at me and told me she could not take any of my items due to selling on property. I explained to her what Vanessa has instructed me to do, her response was, “Well, we own the sidewalk too”.
I don’t understand how not only this is wrong, but how customers are to abide by rules and regulations they are unaware of. If it weren’t for customers like myself, businesses like Once Upon a Child would not exist. I would suggest greater customer service in the future if you and your business are interested in keeping customers.
Do what you wish with this information as I have made mine.
Goodbye Once Upon a Child, goodbye to your lack of customer service, ridiculous prices, outlandish standards, and disgruntled employees.
Sincerely,
Frustrated & Confused
