Piazza Produce was founded in 1970 by Pete Piazza and his father, Paul. Piazza supplies fresh produce and other essential food products to food service establishments. Piazza Produce's current facility was opened in 1994 and continues to update its facility with the latest in construction, material handling and computer technology. In 1997 the company combined its business with Indianapolis Fruit Company, Incorporated. Prior to that time, Indianapolis Fruit distributed products to both the food service and retail industries. All food service distribution is done from Piazza Produce s facility, and all retail distribution is done out of the Indianapolis Fruit facility. The company has earned the highest trade and character ratings in both the Blue Book and the Red Book, the industry's business practice reporting publications. It is a member of the Produce Marketing Association and various other industry organizations and is ASI certified.
