The Mind Trust was founded to provide every Indianapolis student access to a high quality school. The Mind Trust recruits talented, innovative educators and the nation's top education organizations to Indianapolis to build a stronger pipeline of great teachers and school leaders to work in our public schools, address specific student needs in local schools and advocate for students, parents and neighborhoods. The Mind Trust also recruits social entrepreneurs and innovators to launch new schools and education nonprofits. The Mind Trust operates three incubators that help grow high-quality public schools and education nonprofits in Indianapolis: (1) Innovation School Fellowship. We help launch Innovation Network Schools, autonomous public schools within the Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS), the city's largest school district; (2) Charter School Incubator. We help launch or expand excellent public charter schools, autonomous schools that operate independently of the school district and are free from many state regulations, allowing them to be more innovative and flexible in the classroom; (3) Education Entrepreneur Fellowship. We launch high quality non-profit education organizations, including great public schools and other groups that address specific challenges facing those schools and their students. The Mind Trust engages the communities and neighborhoods affected my education change. The Mind Trust actively engages the communities and neighborhoods we serve to create buy-in for the schools we launch, as well as for broader efforts to reshape education. We also support and conduct research on critical issues and advance bold policy initiatives to create a landscape that fosters the growth of quality schools.
