I did not find Networking sessions helpful- if you have been unemployed for a year or more be prepared to get "Positive" lectured from others who were recently employed telling you have an attitude problem when you tell them you have tried (Insert whatever here). Also some in the group brow beat you and say you haven’t tried hard enough (without knowing who you are or what you have tried)- pretty negative if you are really trying to deal with a long term gap. Facilitators then stop you from replying and tell you to just say "Thank you" Forget about dealing with a a real issue of being a long term unemployed. Suddenly you’re the center of attention with comments from others suggesting attitude adjustments and mental health counseling. The session seems mainly for building newly unemployed egos- long term unemployed are screwed. Facilitators tell you at the end of the session what the Networking class rules are and- Oh and you need to pay for more schooling, basically they don't want to hear your issue. Main message was: If you lack experience or have long gaps in employment- Learn to be creative on your resume, (Lie) to get the interview- so what if you don't get the job as employers only want experience- It’s your fault for not Wowing them or hey you can always do volunteer work- which isn't going to help when its not real working experience so employers do not have to pay for training. Which is the real issue long term unemployed have now.
