Provided by YP.comThe following occurred during my appointment on 06MAR08:
-Assistant "forgot" catalyst.
-Assistant had to be instructed to find a light used to bond dental materials-the one needed was not charged.
-As dentist (Carson0 worked on tooth during what she claimed was difficult, assistant repeatedly got in the way with suction, rinse, implements. Dr. Carson snatched suction device away from assistant, proceeded to use it with her left hand while trying to grind tooth w/burr in right hand.
-It was clear that the dentist and the assistant did not work well, together.
-Dentist "walked away" and began an examination in the next room before the procedure was completed.
-When asked about this by assistant, Carson said, I can't be in two places at the same time."
-Assistant returned, explained that I would have to return and have impressions re-done-that another appointment would be needed.
-Assistant attempted to blame me for this, instead of explaining the circumstances.
-When I told her that "for the record" it was not because of me that they weren't going to finish, but because of them, assistant repeatedly tried to give the same excuse/explanation.
-When I requested that she finish what she WAS going to do, and after having been in the chair for over an hour, assistant stepped back and said, "I'm not going to do this." I got up and left-the procedure unfinished.
-I am currently seekeing a dentist to remove "cord" that was pushed up into my gums and left there.
-I assumed that Dr. Carson would at least call to apologize for this incident. This has not taken place.
-I have initiated a complaint/report of this incident with the authorities in Austin.
Suggestions;
Certainly, dental work can be difficult. Organization of materials prior to the appointment would not only make the process run more smoothly, but would help to put the patient at ease. Dr. Carson should insist that equipment and materials be present and in working order before the patient enters the room.
In addition, it appears that at least one of Dr. Carson's dental assistants needs additional training in preparation of materials, as well as working with patients-specifically, being truthful with patients and not attempting to quibble when things don't go well.
Lastly, Dr. Carson should refrain from shaking her head when she is having problems accomplishing dental procedures. She did this several times while working on my tooth. She should also give assistants any additional training needed to help make her job to go more smoothly while dealing with patients.
