Excellent, Excellent, Excellent!!! This was a great "shake down" hike for my future thru-hike. First of all, I loved the itinerary my guide, Arlette Laan, proposed and because of her own through hiking experience she was incredibly knowledgeable and answered my gazillion questions with patience and thoughtfulness. Secondly, seeing her gear setup helped me figure out what changes I will make with my own gear. I without reservation highly recommend booking your next outdoor adventure with Redline Guiding.

There are quite a few things that I wanted to accomplish before I was too old to get them done, and one was to traverse the Presidentials in one day, running what was runnable, power-hiking the rest. My wife wisely did not want me to do it alone, so I contacted Redline and they provided the right person for the task. My experience running the FKT course of the Presidentials with a Redline guide was all that I had hoped for. It did take us a while to complete the traverse, which was just fine as I am injury-free and totally happy with how everything went, just a month shy of my 70th birthday. Phoebe, my guide, was a delight to run and hike with; her knowledge of the Whites in general and the Presidentials in particular is amazing. I am very thankful to Redline for providing just the experience that I had in mind at the outset, and I also appreciate the great weather they provided!

Amazing day! Very responsive to questions before the hike and planning appropriate gear and checking weather conditions. My guide shared a ton of additional information and answered even more questions I had about hiking more of the 48 4Ks in the future on my own. Guides are a wealth of experience and knowledge. She also pointed out many different plants and other interesting things along the way. Great conversation, if you like to chat. If not, that’s ok too. Pace was good for me as I’m a slower hiker. Checked on me to make sure I was hydrated and feeling good. I felt very safe. I had wanted to hike both Pierce and Eisenhower on this hike, if possible based on time and my ability. When we got to top of Pierce and had lunch we reviewed how much time it would take and calculated when we’d be back to car based on my ability and how I was feeling. We did it! Time was absolutely perfect! We even had time to see a beautiful waterfall a little bit off trail on the way down. I can’t say enough great things about this experience. I’m already signed up again to hike Mount Washington in the future. In the meantime I feel more confident and better prepared to hike more on my own. Plus they offer other classes to help you learn how to use a compass, introduction to backpacking 101, wilderness first aid, winter hiking and more.

I would consider myself an experienced hiker and I clock a lot of miles every year which includes a lot of time in the winter. I took a two day mountaineering course last weekend which finished with a climb up Mount Washington with 40 mph winds. I am thoroughly impressed with Pat, Mike and the rest of the team for their knowledge and helpfulness. I learned an amazing amount which will last me for a long time.

This was my second time with Redline Guiding. Pat Ferland was invaluable to me and my companions guiding us up Huntington ravine on Wednesday, August 3rd. Could not have navigated it without him! You learn so much with these talented people. I cannot wait to take more instruction from them!

I had a great learning experience taking their wilderness navigation course with Mike last weekend! I was able to do all the classwork virtually, which was awesome considering I live 3 hours away from Intervale. We followed up with the field part of the course a couple of days later for my first official bushwhack! Very informative, easy to schedule, and well worth the money. I would highly recommend!

This is another 5 star review and it is well deserved! The owner took me and my 74 year old mother out on a half day private tour. He took us to a few popular can’t miss spots as well as some places we could’ve never experienced without a local. He kept us laughing and enjoying the White Mountains as we were chauffeured around the beauty of the National Forest.
On top of the tour, Mike made us a video of our day of escapades for us to enjoy and share with friends and family. This guy is talented and knows his stuff. Passion is infectious. Thanks Mike!

This past weekend, I was part of a yoga hike with Redline Guide Samantha Fairfield and we had a marvelous time. We hiked Black Cap in North Conway and then she led a beautiful yoga class overlooking the best peaks in NH. I was actually shocked that the views were so plentiful given the fact we did not have to hike for hours & hours to get to the summit. Samantha is a great guide and well as a great yoga instructor. I highly recommend her. I’ve also been on longer hikes as well as overnights with Redline and would recommend them overall for guides that personalize trips as needed. I’ve never had a bad experience. The guides are always well prepared, organized, safe and friendly.

Howard guided me on a spectacular and fun double peak, my first "winter" 4k's up Pierce and Eisenhower (it was officially the first day of spring) !! . Friendly and knowledgeable, he helped me gain confidence in several aspects - winter hiking, tackling a 4k, and using snowshoes. Howard encouraged me but never pushed, and I ended up working hard and being proud for pushing myself to climb both peaks. I very much enjoyed my day with Howard, feel like I have a new friend. I can't recommend Redline enough!

Ryan and Mike are fantastic guides and people. Learned a lot, honed my skills, and enjoyed the company a ton. We did an overnight in the whites in winter and had quite an amazing experience. Looking forward to my next trip with Redline.

Mike did a virtual Wilderness Navigation class - it was extremely helpful, and being a math geek I really enjoyed working out the examples. Being fairly new to hiking, I have a lot of practicing to do, but I am excited to start experimenting with my new skills. I still want to take the 'hands on' class when the time comes again - nothing beats in person! Thank you Mike and great to 'meet' my classmates!

While I am a very experienced White Mountain hiker and have done a bit of scrambling, I am deathly afraid of heights, so, of course, hiking the Huntington Ravine Trail became my obsession, my White Whale. I had myself convinced I was not capable of doing it. But Ken Hodges of Redline Guiding got me up and over the HRT with such skill that I remained absolutely calm as if gravity did not exist. Knowing that he had my back was really all I needed. If you are looking for a competent, friendly and supportive guide to get you safely through an adventure in the mountains of the NE look no further than Redline Guiding. These folks are wonderful.

We are avid White Mountain hikers, but we decided this trail merited a guide based on the level of difficulty. It was a great decision. Ken's familiarity with the trail gave us the extra confidence we needed on such a difficult hike. He helped us maneuver around the most challenging areas, giving us suggestions of how to get up and where to use hand and footholds. He was sensitive to areas in which we might need an extra foot boost or backpack hold and was always ready to help. I highly recommend Redline Guiding for your most challenging hikes!

I contacted Redline Guiding to guide me in my attempt to reach the summit of Mt. Washington during the winter season.
I spoke with Mike Cherim over the phone and went on the mountain with Ken Hodges. I met both of them on the day before heading out.
They did a great job advising me on choice of gear (I brought my own, even though they have all the gear available). Also, the route that was chosen was exactly what I was hoping for. Great views, consistent and direct.
The hike itself was nothing short of great. It felt like hiking with a friend, not with an instructor. Ken was even willing to extend the round trip past the sunset (after confirming that I had a headlamp).
I am going to try for the summit again next winter season, and so far Ken was extremely helpful in answering my questions from his experience as to how I should prepare, physically, or gear-wise. And the follow-up with pictures that I received by e-mail a few days after was a great touch, I did not expect it and was very pleasantly surprised.
I had a great time during that trip and would gladly recommend Redline Guiding to anyone.

I've hiked up Mount Washington twice guided by Mike Cherim. Both times were a great experience. Not only does he do his best to get you up and down safely, he makes sure you're having a good time while doing it.
Mike's passion for the outdoors shines through, illuminating many aspects of the experience. He's eager to share his knowledge, point out interesting features in nature, and quick with jokes.
I would hire them again in the future without hesitation.
