Very hard to get a hold of. It is nearly immposible to contact a real person through their automated system if you have problems, if you manage to get through you can leave a message and they MIGHT call back within 48 hours.

They have been very slow with with holding support from his checks, and now they seem to be but we are only receiving the money twice in 3 months even though they withhold each 2 week paycheck. He is always willing to help his kids, but now is working 70 hrs for less than $500 checks thanks to FOC.

This is A LOT of money and it is needed. WTF?!!!

Ionia Friend of Court-VERY slow to respond! I have sent 3 letters to let them know that my daughter is still in school (as requested) but still no action to reinstate my child support. I work and my superiors would not approve of such a lack of effort. I have over 16 plants and 3500 parts that I have to keep track of--I also know what "busy" means. I cannot rate this FOC-there are no negative numbers, but this page is insisting on a rating or it will not let me post.

Avoid having Ionia Friend of the Court decide in your custody case at all costs. You can by pass them if there is no domestic violence and you and your spouse agree, and use the circuit court.

The Ionia County Friend of the Court refuses to view and properly weigh evidence of domestic violence. This, and I find an illegal religious bias guides Jessica K. Wierckz‘s decisions (Friend of the Court & Circuit Court Referee).

The pattern is that domestic violence is not weighted correctly, or even recognized as legitimately existing. This is heart breaking and terrifying for me personally, but this injustice is harming the children of our entire community. The FOC is rigid. They refuse to change the first order no matter what new evidence is presented. The Ionia County FOC displays no great talent in making good initial decisions, either - I find them quite lacking.

I am not the only woman to experience this bias. I spent April of 2012 in a domestic violence shelter (RAVE). Three women I met also lost custody of their children, to their abusers. We all left the marital home and this was factored against us, tilting the scales of justice to award full custody of the children to whomever stayed in the marital home. I asked my husband to leave. He would not, abusers usually will not.
