UPSCALE RESALE was birthed out of the desire to provide help and hope for those less fortunate in the Iowa City community. During our initial discussion regarding how to provide hope and help we determined that generating financial resources was critical to fulfilling our vision. With that goal we established a non-profit, volunteer base, resale store, that is dependent on community involvement as expressed through donations, shopping, and volunteering. To our delight, we discovered that individuals were excited when they realized that the dress they haven’t worn in years, or the chair that doesn’t match their new déco’ when donated to UPSCALE RESALE can make a difference for individuals and families impacted by poverty, chemical dependency, abuse, domestic violence, human trafficking, or homelessness. UPSCALE RESALE is located at 3305 Highway 1 SW, Suite 28, Iowa City, where we currently have 6000sq of showroom space with an additional 2400sq where we receive and service donations. OUR PURPOSE: To provide financial support to organizations that are involved with strengthening individuals and families, providing safe environments for men, women, and children, and providing relief to people who are in conditions of need, hardship, or distress. OUR VISION: To bring hope and help to individuals and families in the greater Iowa City area and around the world. OUR MISSION: Your donations + Our Store = Their Hope Drop Inn International was founded in 1994 by Ronnie and Carolyn Dawson as an outreach to local young people in Northern Ireland. Today, it's providing humanitarian aid in over 20 countries, with the support of its 35+ charity shops. We opened our Iowa City resale store in 2016 and Drop Inn Iowa currently has one other location in Cedar Rapids! Our store's mission is to be a source of monetary and material resources to bring hope, help and healing to a hurting world; both in the Iowa City community and internationally. We sell new and secondhand items donated from the community and invest the profits in local and international humanitarian endeavors.We are a non-profit organization, mainly run by volunteers! Most of our product is donated by individuals and families in our local community. Currently, 40% of our profits is sent to Burkina Faso, Africa to construct and operate a medical clinic, which is vital to over 600 orphans and the surrounding community it serves. 60% of our profits stay in the Iowa City community and is invested in local organizations that are helping people. These include Safe Families for Children, IC Compassion and Retrograde Ministries.
