When in Iron River, please come and visit us at the meat market where we offer fresh hand cut steaks, full service counter and great products, some listed here on the website and some just at the store. Jim and Ann Klinge opened Jim's Meat Market in 1981 on Main Street in Iron River WI. This is where they started perfecting Jim's Pepper Sticks and the other sausages. On April 1, 2007 they have opened at a68455 District Street in the Bayfield Electric Business Park. With their new location they also have a federal USDA license which will allow them to sell products outside the state of Wisconsin. To help them with this new venture Jim and Ann's son-in-law, Jens Gregerson, works full-time at the market and their daughter, Amy, works part-time. In our new building we used what worked with the old one and tried to change what didn't. Some new things that were used in this building is ground source heating and cooling, on-demand hot water heaters and closed cell spray insulation for our coolers.

bought my 9 lb prime rib and cooked it per their instruction... was the best Christmas dinner I cooked in a long time. I purchase every rib eye from their store because it is trimmed, fresh and so worth the grill.. Won't go any where else..

BEWARE! Service has been slowly slipping at Jim's.

The previous reviews were correct. It used to be excellent. However, my father just had his deer processed here and picked it up today. They charged twice what they have in the past and when he had asked where his antler were, no one knew. They showed him outside to a pile in the snow and told him to "pick one."

When my Father expressed his displeasure at having to pick a set of antlers, he was told to take his meat and go. He did and is going straight home to tell his neighbor to forget bringing his deer here.

So unfortunate. We used to stop all the time for the meats on our way through town.

I called to inquire with Management what may be happening - new ownership, bad Christmas? When the phone was answered, I asked if I could speak with a manager or someone in charge. The response was a rude, "yeah, whaddo you want?"

I asked my questions and received nothing but rude, short responses. I then explained the reason for my call. Let him know he had lost two customers at this point and perhaps he should rethink his strategies before he ends up out of business like all the other Mom & Pops.

He said he would pay closer attention in the future, but only he knows what he said when he hung up the phone. I'm sure he had a few choice words for me.

Nonetheless, just something to think about if you are planning on doing business with Jim's. If none of this matters to you, by all means continue to fund the rudeness and unreliability.
