Located in Ithaca, N.Y., Alcohol & Drug Council is a private, nonprofit agency, which provides information, education, counseling and referral services for area residents and organizations. The council provides alcohol and drug abuse prevention and treatment services, and works with high school and middle school students in more than five school districts. Its clinical program provides treatment for people who are facing alcohol and drug abuse problems. Alcohol & Drug Council is staffed with counselors and educators trained by the State Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services for chemical dependency treatment. The council s various programs include peer education, open minds, drug-free workplace programs, and recovering professionals program. It is a member of the United Way Agency of Tompkins County, N.Y.
