The Amador County Museum was founded in 1949 and contains a diverse collection of artifacts donated by local residents over the last 70 years. It is located in an historic home built in 1859 by Armstead C. Brown. The museum also has a Mining exhibit in a separate building which has working models of the Kennedy head-frame, stamp mill and a tailing wheel plus numerous mining artifacts, photographs and paintings. The museum is open Fri., Sat., and Sun. from 11-3 with mining model tours at 12 and 1:00.
