DISGUSTING!!! I bought meat dumplings (I have bought them there before and they were fine, as well as produce, which was just "OK") and they were in a 3" block of ice, both packages, when I opened them. I took them to the owner immediately, while still frozen (they even had that musty SMELL, that you get when a frozen item is old and stale) and he said, "You can't get money back on those. They are frozen, just cook them, that's the way they are." I showed him some packages he has in the display that are newer and that they are NOT in any ice at all, as well as some meat dumplings, obviously stale, in thick ice like mine. this exchange went on for a couple minutes, then--he said, in a very agitated way, "well, that's the way they are, so don't get mad at me. I can't give money back for that. Just cook them. Do you want them?" I said "NO, they are stale and smell bad. Keep them. We don't eat food that is sub-quality." I left. You know, I haven't heard good things about that place (it IS kind of seedy looking, no pun) but I often stopped there for some teas and veggies in particular out of convenience AND more often, for the dumplings but I never experienced such bad customer service until today. I pride myself on being reasonable and polite-- BUT--He lost me, for sure and I share the low opinion of thatmarket now as well. There are SO many good markets and excellent produce in the Super Grocery Stores-- Why shop at Jackson Farmer's Market because it is DISGUSTING, to sell and defend such repulsive food!
