Provided by YPmobileWell first let me say that I've been getting my hair braided professionally for about 15 years. I'm new to Jacksonville and needed to find a braider. I called Coumba's and was qouted $160 to $180 for Micros. The day of the appointment, the owner and her staff were a half an hour late. Once I sat down in the chair, the owner Coumba, attempted to charge me $200 instead of the agreed upon price. I told the ladies exactly how I wanted my hair, "full, with no part in the front". I also stated that I ordered Brazilian hair directly from the manufacturer.
Well let me first say that the
e only part of my hair that is full is the front. However there is a part directly in the center of my head. Secondly, the braids in the back are extremely uneven. Thirdly, and the worst part of all is too much of my hair ended up on the floor. They also ripped a lot of the hair as they seperated it by combing too harshly and then tried to blame it on the manufacturer. What started out being 22 inches, ended up being about 12, rendering it unusable.
In the end, I hate my hair and the only style I can actually wear it in is a bun. This is very unfortunate... Oh and by the way, when I asked one of the girls to not use thick Bergamont hair grease in my hair, she immediately got an attitude. I guess that's why my beautiful Brazilian hair ended up ripped and on the floor. Lesson learned. I will never ever never go to this establishment again.
i am very pleased to answer that comment. after we spoke on the phone, the service she wanted when she came to the shop was way more, that's why the price changed and the hair she ordered first of all was short and she wanted me to make it long. The hair was a very bad one and i've been doing hair a very long long time and i am professional and well known person on this field i've never seen a hair like that and i told her to call the company to report that mess. Anyway i didn't forced her to sit on the chair and to pay me that money. We agreed with that price and she gave me a big tip after we finished.I am a professional and I always treated my customers right. That's why they keep coming and just because she had one bad experience with me doesn't mean she knows the way i do work and if anybody has any question they can come to my shop . thank you

Provided by YPmobileI have been going to Ms. Coumba for about 10 years now. I love the atmosphere. She and her staff are very welcoming, always making sure I'm comfortable. They are flexible with my very busy schedule. I am always more than happy with my hair. I have had micros, booty braids the size of micros, rope twist, locs, etc. All I have to do is say what I wanted, sit back, enjoy my visit, love my hair, and refer then to every one that stood me and compliment me on how they love my hair. I will never go back to the creamy crack as long as there is Ms. Coumba African Braiding.

Provided by YP.comI had a hard time finding a quality hair stylist to braid my hair in Orlando. I was recommended to Coumba by a relative who lives in Jacksonville. When I arrived, the ladies at the shop were so friendly and professional. They worked on my together so that I would arrive back home in Orlando at a decent time. My braids were absolutely beautiful!!! People kept stopping me on the street asking who braided my hair! I will continue to drive the 2 hours from Orlando to Jacksonville to get my hair done. If you are looking for a friendly staff with quality services at an affordable prices, Coumba is the place for you!

Provided by YPmobileI went here because it was recommended by a friend. I was quoted one price and when I arrived they said another price. I was not pleased in the least. Then the woman was rough with my head. I will NEVER go back here to get my head done and I would not recommend this place to anyone either.

Provided by YP.comI went there as a walk in and I have short, thin hair. I am very tender headed but beauty is pain right? Through all my mad faces, leg shaking, head holding trauma my micros came out great! The ladies were patient with me and they played some movies also to keep me & the other customers entertained. There was a lady that got the Senegalese braids and they were done perfectly! Good atmosphere, good people and good work.
