About IVCJax The International Visitor Corps (IVCJax) is a growing member organization comprised of businessmen and women, educators, public servants, ambassadors, and retirees from across the first coast who share a passion for learning about our world and welcoming its foreign leaders to Jacksonville. Each year we bring up to 200 emerging leaders from around the world to Jacksonville to meet with their counterparts in business, education, government, NGO leadership, healthcare, and much more. Our visitors are participants of the U.S. Department of State International Visitor Leadership Program, The Library of Congress Open World Program, or Embassy sponsored Fee for Service programs. In 2009, we hosted 192 visitors from 79 different countries including Mayors, Parliamentarians, Young Political Leaders, Entrepreneurs, Religious Leaders, Environmentalists, Educators, and more. In addition to our activities hosting international visitors, we strive to present events that inform and engage on a host of international issues. Regularly occurring events include our Global Perspectives Series,, Potluck Dinners with International Visitors, and several Education Initiatives including our signature Going Global Citizen Diplomacy Summits. International Visitor Corps of Jacksonville was founded by Maria Condaxis in 1990 as the International Resource Center of Jacksonville. The name was changed to International Visitor Corps of Jacksonville (IVCJax) in 2004 in order to better reflect our core activity of hosting professional visitors and emerging leaders from all over the world. Since its founding, IVCJax has hosted more than 1, 800 emerging leaders and professionals from over 155 countries, allowing them to experience firsthand the way Americans live, the way they conduct business, and the way they deal with the political, cultural, and social problems in today's increasingly global society. The International Visitor Corps of Jacksonville is sponsored in part by funds from the US Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, Membership Dues, Sponsorships, and additional Grants. Regardless of how you are involved in IVCJax, your Membership and Sponsorship contributions make our efforts - every handshake, every friendship, every happy memory - possible.
