The Sandollar was originally built in 1954 by a gentleman who lived in Fort George Island. This small but capable restaurant was able to capitalize on the booming American shrimp market from Mayport across the river. The business thrived and created the tradition of serving fresh and local seafood at low costs. This was when Heckscher Drive still had bridges that were made of wood and moved with the tide. After a while, the area demanded a larger facility and the current Sandollar was built. We kept the tradition of providing customers with fresh, quality seafood with a great riverfront view. The Sandollar was originally built in 1954 by a gentleman who lived in Fort George Island. Nice place on the water.

Calamari was fantastic. Fried oysters were very fresh. Friendly staff.

Check Charged Wrong BAD FOOD

Credit card charged wrong. Both parties meals were charged to my card. Wife received wrong food. Green beans tasted like cardboard. Hush puppies stuck to teeth.

I stopped in Wednesday for the seafood buffet and was surprised that the buffet's seafood contained only broiled fish and tuna salad. We ate outside on the great deck. This isn't a good idea when the construction crews are pounding foundation pylons. This is my second visit. The Sunday meals weren't bad and the service was the same so-so. Not worth the trip Golden Coral's seafood buffet contains better choices and quality.
