Provided by YP.comSeverson Sewing does a great job on all the items I have given her to do. She is been on time and alway goes above and beyond what she needs to do. Denise knows her information and she does amazing things. She has taken a brides maid dress for me and changed it into a cocktail dress it was fabulous. I take all my dress clothes into her and have her hem them to fit me. Denise also does all the embroidery for shirts for my office.

Provided by YP.comI have been a client with Denise since 2004. I used to have some lady on Pine street that did a terrible job and you would never know WHEN you would get your items back. She would say "ah maybe a couple weeks". A couple weeks goes by and you would have to call and call and beg for your stuff back someday. Take it to Denise for it to be done CORRECTLY. It may be a bit more pricey but it is worth it to have professional work done on your items that need to look good on you and be sewn correctly. I showed some work to Denise that the other lady had done and it was just horrible. Straps we made on a dress that were not the same thickness. The hem was crooked. Some of the hem was cut to short so it wasn't sewn into the hem at all. Raw edges sticking out etc. I could go on about this experience but I would like to tell you how professional and precise Denise is.
I have had her hem pants that looked better when she was done than when they came from the store. She will do a fitting to be sure them hem is correct according to YOU, your posture and your physical characteristics. As some of you know we are not all perfect.
I look good in a bias(sp) dress. I couldn't find one like the one I had in a smaller size that didn't fit any more. I gave her that dress and said I would like something like this one. She told me what I needed to buy and walla. A beautiful copper dress with shall.
I needed another dress altered. I loved the dress but it was about 2 sizes to big. She did the alterations to make it fit beautifully and comfortable. She is very precise about doing things in the order needed to make it all fit and be taken apart correctly. You cannot just rip into a dress and alter it without a certain process. She goes over this in great detail so you know the exact costs for everything to be done properly. If you have a idea she will advise you if that is the way to go or not because she knows the process to achieve the goals of getting the dress to fit properly.
I am guessing SPICYMARGE1 did not want to hear or take the advise given to achieve her goals. I would not believe this rant at all!!
She has done beautiful drapes for me. She will return ALL extra fabric ,trims, and notions that were not used. I had a lady do some drapes for me. It took weeks to get my thread back. I am still missing extra trim that I specifically ordered extra for emergency. I am still missing TWO yards of 54" wide $50 per yard fabric. She said "there wasn't much trim and fabric left so I tossed it" Yeah right There were 2 yards of extra trim. Tossed it right into some pricey pillows I bet!!! One panel was off by 1/2 inch and 2 inches shorted than I wanted. So as I said if you want it done correctly and honestly HIRE DENISE!!

Provided by YP.comDenise altered two bridesmaid dresses for me and did a wonderful job. She asked what I wanted done, had excellent advice to offer when I wasn't sure, and made sure I was aware of everything that she was going to be doing to help it fit properly. Both dresses turned out beautiful and fit fabulously. It was wonderful not having to fidget and tug at my strapless dress to keep to keep it in place like the other bridesmaids were doing all night. I would highly recommend Severson Sewing!!!!!!!!!

Provided by YP.comIf you are looking for a quality seamstress with a real design eye, Severson Sewing will not disappoint you. Now living in Washington, D.C., I can attest that her professionalism and artistic abilities could match any we have here in Georgetown!
Here is my story:
I wanted a simple yet elegant mother of the bride dress. Denise was fully engaged in my project from start to finish. First, she shopped with me. Her advice on design, style and fabric was extremely valuable. She could visualize what I needed to help me look my very best on that very special day - my daughter's wedding. Next, she sewed the gown on a "practice" fabric. She made all the necessary alterations to the pattern pieces to ensure the pattern would fit me perfectly. As a "non-designer" I found this a helpful way for ME to visualize how I would look (and feel) in this dress. Next, she sewed the real gown. It was beautiful. It was elegant. It had over 350 hand sewn tiny decorative beads. It was perfect. Lastly, Denise always schedules a final fitting right before the day of the event. Good thing. Turns out I experienced "pre-marital" jitters and lost weight in the few weeks prior to my daughter's wedding. She then made the finishing alterations so that it perfectly fit the nervously smaller me! I received nothing by compliments for all her hard work. I was honored to be able to wear such delicately elegant professionally hand made garment. Her talents are endless!
If you are looking for a quality seamstress with a real design eye, Severson Sewing will not disappoint you.

Provided by YP.comI was invited to a Masquerade Ball and, despite the fact that I had only five weeks' notice, Denise designed & sewed an exquisitely detailed, custom gown for me. Not only that, but she also designed and created a cape, muff, purse, and mask to go with my dress. I was consulted throughout the process and she made sure that I understood precisely how each decision would affect the final look of the dress. She truly went above and beyond to make this amazing ensemble. I adore the dress and received many compliments at the ball. I definitely recommend her!

Provided by YP.comMy daughter was invited to an elaborate sweet sixteen party at a venue known for hosting weddings and other celebrations. The dilemma of what to wear was eased by consultations with Denise. Denise met with my daughter several times, emailed us design pictures, and suggested details that we would not have thought of to make a one of a kind knock out, yet age appropriate, gown. My daughter was quite proud to wear a dress that was truly one of kind and received many compliments through out the evening. Denise was patient with us in explaining the elements of the design and how the cut/style would look, and wanted to make sure that each one of our "requirements" was incorporated into the dress. My daughter and I are eagerly looking forward to Prom when she will wear another dress designed and sewn by Denise.

Provided by YP.comDenise made a jacket for me and did a great job. She kept me informed through the whole process and encouraged me to ask questions and to let her know exactly what I wanted. It fits well and I have gotten several positive comments on it. It helps me stand out in a crowd - which is what I wanted. I had several fittings with alot of chance to get my input in before we got to the final product. The workmanship was excellent!!! She also hemmed a pair of slacks for my husband and they fit perfect. I would and have recommended her to family, friends, clients. Thanks, Denise for being so professional and helping me get just what I wanted.

Provided by YPmobileI have been a client of Denise Severson with Severson Sewing for approx. 10 years. I am a person of short stature however plus sized, therefore having difficulty finding clothes, especially pants to fit me properly. Because I am petite in height, and although I buy pants which are "short" in length, I STILL need Denise to shorten them for me. She is always very professional and thorough. Her work is of highest quality and the pricing is adequate to reflect her skills and workmanship. We have an open line of communication and if she ever has any questions she'd contact me before proceeding with the work. I have always been pleased with the work she's done. I will certainly go back to her again and I would definitely recommend her to anyone!

Provided by YP.comMy name is Dan Wilcox and I am the Fund Development/ Public Relations Coordinator for the Alzheimer’s Support Center of Rock County, Inc in Janesville, WI. I had the pleasure of getting to meet Denise Severson when she contacted me about creating a dress for one of my female dancers for an event that we hold each year called Dancing with the stars. She agreed to create the dress, and then after she uses it to compete in a competition, she would then allow us to auction the dress the following year at the Dancing with the Stars event. Of course we jumped at the opportunity!
The woman that I had selected to get to wear the dress was very excited about getting to dance on stage, as she had wanted to do so since she was young. I just knew in my heart that Denise would create the dress that would really help our dancer (Marcia Bubrick) to “be all that she could be” up on stage! Let me tell you that when I saw Marcia that evening, she was a knock out! I truly feel that the dress that Denise created helped Marcia to get “into” the part she was to portray even more than the hair extensions and makeup!
The song that Marcia was to dance to was “whatever Lola wants”. Marcia is a very stately older woman who carries herself with an air of class. The character of Lola would be a very big stretch for Marcia, but, the dance instructor knew she could pull off the routine if she would get in character. That dress helped Marcia to achieve the results we needed and more! The pattern of the dress gave a classy “cougar” look to Marcia. (Which was perfect, because her dance partner was 10 years or so her junior!) The whole look was class with just the right emphasis on the curves without being obvious! You could genuinely see WHY this younger guy was falling for this woman! Who wouldn’t?!?!
It is pretty obvious that I would recommend Denise Severson’s talents to anyone! She has vision, clarity, the skills of her profession, experience with countless customers that love her work, AND she frequently asks for feedback from the client as the process continues, whether it is a hem, or a complete make over of an existing piece of apparel.
Denise Severson is a jewel in our community!

Provided by YP.comDenise did the alterations on my Oleg Cassini wedding gown. She did a fantastic job even above my expectations after I had been told by other seamstress' that what I needed done could not be done.
Denise put in a gorgeous french bustle complete with color coded ribbons underneath so I could repeat it on my big day... removed a hideous bow on the back and turned it into a beautiful lose knot tie. She also added stain guards in the armpits. The length was perfect. She shortened some very difficult twisted straps that ended up fitting me perfectly.
She also asked me more than once if I was sure that I understood and agreed with what she was doing, and always explained why it needed to be done. I lived a few hours from her too and she was very willing to work with my schedule.
I had so many compliments on my dress and it was perfect for my special day! Severson Sewing was very professional and I would recommend Denise to anyone!

Provided by YP.comI arrived with a $500 MIL dress and 3 weeks and $120 later left with a dress I wouldn't donate to Goodwill. I asked her professional judgement in making the bodice fit. She removed the bust line stays and put darts in the back of the bodice that run from my armpit to the rear zipper. I wanted the dress train shortened. If I hadn't stopped her she would have made the floor length dress with short train into something knee length in front and floor length in back. The dress has a tiered skirt but it is not what we discussed and the extra material was already removed. In desperation I asked for the return of the dress before she could complete removal of a decorative element at the front of the rusched waist and attach the shawl to the shoulder seams. The shoulder seams are now located at the back about 2" below my shoulders. The dress makes me look flat-chested and like I have a huge beer belly. Very unflattering and a great disappointment given the money I spent.
