Jefferson Hospital is a nice hospital. The staff are wonderful and caring. Also the ER is very prompt. They have no problem giving you pain meds. if you need them.

DO NOT I repeat DO NOT go to Jefferson Hills Hospital! I have been here twice now for my back, I have had 2 major surgery's on my lower back for my herniated L5 and S1 over the years and to this day is getting worse. I went in to Jefferson Hills Hospital last week to have it checked out, VERY unprofessional staff who was extremely ignorant with me since I walked in. They tried to take blood but had no idea how to use a needle, blew 2 of my veins before she finally got it right then ripped the needle right out of my arm and left it to bleed everywhere then they sent me home. Today, in extreme pain, unable to walk and no where else to turn I had no choice but to go back, since I do have bad acne and have since my youth they continuously accused me of being a heroin junkie. Again tried to take my blood only this time she proceeded to use a dirty needle, I was able to stop that but was unable to stop her from ripping the needle out of my arm which caused blood to spray everywhere. I do have pictures and video of all of this and more then willing to share my proof of this DIRTY hospital! Please read and share this warning, It may SAVE A LIFE!

I have had multiple life threatening ER trips to this facility because I'm a cancer/transplant patient. They have once almost allowed me to bleed out internally and I would have died had my Upmc doctor not had me life flighted out of this hospital. Both the ER & ICU staff are very rude and offered no comfort to me or my family members when a tumor burst in my stomach. They let me sit bleeding without a doctor seeing me for nearly an hour causing me a trip to ICU. The nurses are incompetent in the ER as one tried to access my port without first wiping her hands or my port clean. My UPMC doctors warn me that I should not return there. A third incident happened when on Christmas Eve I went in with abdomen pain and the MISREAD the ct that showed 4 softball sized tumors they never told me about and sen me home saying I was fine. The next week UPMC found them right away on their CT. We asked for a copy of the ct at Jefferson and when we got it home and pulled it up on our home computer we could see the 4 tumors and we aren't even radiologist. He must of been asleep or too busy to notice the 4 large softball size tumors I had and the CT clearly showed.
