Established in 1836, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office provides a range of emergency and nonemergency services for the residents of Jefferson County, Wis. It offers patrol, jail, detective, communication and support services. The office operates a drug task force. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office also operates the Jefferson County Deputy Sheriffs Association, which is a nonprofit association that donates to local food pantries, provides scholarships to high school seniors and contributes to several community projects. The office maintains a staff of several captains, sergeants, detectives, and patrol and jail deputies. Its special weapons and tactics team responds to high-risk situations and assists on search warrants. The office s jail division operates a jail that houses county and contracted inmates.
