Its my educated opinion that A.C.L. Is one of three top marine tranportation companies. I worked for them for seven great years and I still believe what most of it stands for. As an officer aboard a lineboat, ive been a big part of vessel leadership training. I believe in what we were teaching. A vessel and its crew are only one small team or family unit that belongs to a much larger team. We taught that its not us against you. My boat is better then yours...no we taught crew members a new and better way of doing things. We were effectively getting rid of old school thought. Old school has its place. We listen and learn from experience but a lot of the old ideology had to go. We're a team. A family. You watch my back and i'll watch yours. And most of all constantly strive for zero injuries. Company wide. Safer the better. Its teaching guys n girls to see things on a larger and more simple scale. We were becoming more efficient and had lowest injury rate ever in history of towboating. I was a Mate. And am very good at playing chess, I call it. The smarter you work, the more efficient, less costly, and safer
