Provided by YP.comPlease look elsewhere for your trash service. Republic Services is dishonest and their customer service is horrible. We were loyal customers for nearly two decades and recently switched to Veteran Disposal (they've been awesome). We were considering switching over to Veteran because Republic adds so many bogus fees to each bill. When Republic ripped the lid off our container after a pick up and didn't do anything about it we decided to make the switch.
When I called to cancel, I was never told about any container removal fee. We later received a bill for $40.31! They charged us: $24.20 for Container Removal, a $5.95 Administrative Fee, and a $10.16 Fuel Recovery Fee. This is all just for picking up one container that they broke. Unbelievable as we'd recently paid those last two fraudulant fees on our last bill for a month that we didn't even receive. Fuel recovery? Do they refund us any of that when gas prices go down..of course not...it's unethical really.
I called and was treated very rudely. I was told that those were the fees and I'd have to pay them. She acted like it's completely reasonable to charge $40.31 to pick up a container! And, they never informed me of any fee for doing so. I asked to speak to someone else and finally got the last two charges taken off. But still...totally rude and charged $24.20 to loyal customers for 18 years.

Provided by YP.comFor many years, Republic was my provider regardless of what name they were under at the time, but over the past few years they have become all about the money. Service remained acceptable, but rates continued to skyrocket year after year. Of course, if I mentioned going with another provider they would always agree to match the best pricing that I could find. I guess that is their way of having customers do their work them. So, I did that for a few years, but they would always look to increase the price again. So, I finally said enough is enough and moved on to another provider for far less money. Today, I received a final grasp for cash as they sent me an invoice charging me for them picking up THEIR containers, and charged me per container instead of for the single trip to pick them up. It's THEIR containers, and returning THEIR containers results in yet another way to charge. Take my advice and seek other providers. You can get the same service for far less, and not have to deal with the Republic Services greed.

For a few years we had no issues with Allied or Republic services or whatever they have now become. Maybe our recent issues are because of a merger. We've had issues for the last several months of garbage being left, dropped on driveway, billing issues and each time it is "being handled". Then after a week of calm it starts over again. They consistently forgot about our trash over the 18 months we used them and would not send someone to come pick it up during the week, we'd have to wait till the next week with our trash overflowing!! We cancelled with them 3 1/2 weeks ago and despite 3 phonecalls where I was told they'd come 'any day' to pick up the container, it is STILL sitting here! TOTALLY UNRELIABLE!! Go with Everkept! Provided by YP.comHORRIBLE!!! USE ANY OTHER SERVICE!!!! I've been a customer of this company for 2 years. I got really tired of my bills going up 15-20% every quarter. They will tell you they will match anyones price but then they add on all these fees and pile it on at the next quarter. Its rediculous! I finally got sick of calling around for a better price every 3 months and told them forget it. Now, they want to charge me even more for shutting down my service. This company is poorly run and could care less about their customer. I am now with a local farmers garbage service and they are respectful, kind and honest. I wish I would've read these reviews before rolling the dice on this company. GO LOCAL!!

Provided by YP.comDo NOT use Allied Waste....I am a business owner in Grand Rapids and signed a contract with this company in 2004. I recently found another company to perfom the same services with the same amount of pick ups and the same amount of bins for 1/3 the cost!! And, the other company was going to give me a check once a month for my scrap metal. When I called to cancel my service I was told I was still under contract. I have not spoke to anyone or had a rep stop in since 2004 and I was under contract, really? They told me my contract automatically renewed every 5 years unless I gave them witten notice 6 months in advance. Trust me I have it on my calendar to cancel in 2014. Do not sign any contract with them as they just keep raising the rate whenever they want and are not easy to deal with.

Provided by YP.comLock you in to 3 year contracts that you have to notify them 90 days prior to renew date to get out of. Very rude to deal with and arbitrary price increases with inconsistant service. Many other contractors out there that are much easier to deal with and don't have contracts like a record club.

Provided by YP.comFeb 09 - I always put our trash cart out the night before our trash is to be picked up but I had forgotten. The garbage man must have noticed that since I always have my trash out that when he came by he grabbed it from next to the garage and dumped it for us.

Provided by YP.comFinally dropped them because they kept inching up their rates until they were much more than the competition. When I called cancel service was told I should have called and they would have lowered it.... I shouldn't have to do that.
Also, canceling service was quite the drama... I've breakups go smoother. Geez.

Provided by YP.comI have had allied for the past two years. The service that they provide is great. The guys are wonderful and helpful. However dealing with administration has been a pain in the neck. Twice the company has disrupted service for their mishap with my auto pay on my debit card. I was not informed of the problem until they took my garbage cans away! I am sad to let them go- but I will be looking for a new comapny.
