I had called Aero Mechanical to come take look at my water heater over a non-holiday weekend. After the initial call, a technician arrived about 2 hours later, spent a total amount of time of around 30-40 minutes max, in between which he was out for about 1.5 hours or so supposedly using all that time to find a supply house that is open for materials.



What was shocking was that the service invoice turned out to be $531 for a supposed 3 hours of labor. Aero Mechanical indicated that the technician left immediately after I had made the call, yet the fact that he arrived two hours later (in the small state of RI) does not add up. I was told that the company's policy is to charge a minimum of 3 hours. Even if they do not end up spending that much time, they will still charge that much time for labor. None of this was stated upfront.



The price they charged per hour was $177. Look online and you'll find that this is way above the usual range, even with the surcharge for an "emergency."
