The Clayton County Prison provides low-cost labor across the spectrum of county departments, agencies, water authority and Clayton County municipalities by housing and working inmates from the Georgia Department of Corrections. Inmates do a variety of jobs that would be cost prohibitive at the current level if done by paid staff, including major renovations work, minor construction, carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, HVAC work, cleaning county buildings and parks, collecting roadside refuse, lawn maintenance, and making and installing traffic signs and equipment. The prison s operating capacity exceeds 225 medium custody and below inmates. The Clayton County Prison is located in Hampton, Ga.
