EmailTim & Renee Shimek founded Glowing Hearth in 2002, but Tim has been working in the fireplace business since he was 9 year old. In 1975, Tim's Mom told his Dad, Ron, she wanted a freestanding fireplace in their home. Ron decided to build one himself and built the first ever Heat-N-Glo fireplace in their garage (Savage, MN) a month later. Within the year, Ron's brother Dan would join him to start the Heat-N-Glo fireplace manufacturing business. They did not realize at the time they were on the path to become the largest fireplace manufacturer in the world. Tim continued to work with his father every summer along with his brothers. In 1987, Heat-N-Glo created a product that would revolutionize the industry-The Direct Vent Gas Fireplace, making it possible to install a fireplace in virtually any room of the home. Other companies jumped aboard to use this remarkable technology and today there are more brands to choose from. Tim along with his wife Renee (Glowing Hearth) over the past 11 years have continued to keep Ron's dream alive by expanding builder business, retail business, and adding fireplace showrooms. There are now three Glowing Hearth & Home locations (Jordan, Burnsville, and Mankato).

We were looking for a fireplace for our basement. When we went into the Burnsville showroom we were greeted immediately. The showroom was finished beautifully inside just like you would see in your home. Our project was flawless with them. I would recommend Glowing Hearth and Home to anyone who is looking to have a fireplace installed in their home. Their entire staff from sales person, to previewer, to scheduler to the installation crew were so friendly and so knowledgeable. We look at a couple different places before we made our decision and could not be happier with the choice we made! Thank you Glowing Hearth & Home for making this a WONDERFUL experience! We can't wait to go back this spring and purchase a patio campfire table this spring!

They really care a lot about their customers and give great service! I would recommend this company to all my family and friends. Renee and Tim are the owners and they care about their employees being successful and they take care of their customers!

âIf you don't mind having your living room torn up for a couple of months and/or surprise charges after job completion/payment (complete with collection agency threats) than this is the company for you. Be prepared to make numerous calls to these guys in order to get them to finish the installation after they've started. Hopefully you have the ability to take off lots of time from work because you'll need to. Expect it to take several visits as they'll have a hard time procuring whatever you order from them. Whatever you do don't pre-pay your order (like we did) or they'll never finish. You'll be fortunate after it's all said and done if you end up with the fireplace and surround you originally ordered and paid for. Not a pleasant experience. âThe only positive came from the sub-contractors they hire to do the work. They're professional and timely once they're eventually provided with the correct materials (from Glowing H&H).
