Provided by YP.comKIMO left us stranded on the side of the road when he knew we were broken down at 3 in the afternoon on a weekday. He answered the phone the first time and then told me to call him back once after we had tried to get a jump from a passing samaritan (thinking it was a battery issue). The jump didn't work and the car died again. I called him OVER AND OVER AND OVER and he screened my calls all afternoon/ evening. We used our own AAA account to get it towed back to Kimo's Rental Car once we realized that we would be on our own and the "Emergency Hotline" was good for nothing. We had to take an Uber back to our lodging and another one back to Kimo's in the morning. The most ridiculous part of this whole story is that in the midst of this catastrophe, I figured that I'd try calling the "Emergency Hotline" from the place that we were having dinner, assuming that he was screening my phone number. He didn't answer the first time but he CALLED BACK the local 808 number saying "I just had a missed call from this number". WHAT ABOUT THE 20 MISSED CALLS FROM YOUR CUSTOMER STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD?!?!?! Would never rent from them again and would never recommend anyone to rent from Kimo's.

Provided by YP.comMoved to Maui and while waiting for matson to deliver my car, rented from Kimo. I got a 2004 top of the line Camry, wonderfully beat up. Loved that car. Didn’t have to lock it or worry about dings. So worth driving around like a local. If you want a worry free vacation and half the cost of other rental companies then Kimo is your place!

Provided by YP.comWe love Kimo's, cars are waiting for you at the airport parking lot with keys in key box and you return them to same place, so easy!! no waiting in lines or taking a bus to rental cars. And they have the best prices and best customer service on Maui!! I have rented from them everytime I go home to Maui and can't wait to book my next rental.

Provided by YP.comIn every way this a terrible place to rent. I knew going in that I was renting a used van. I paid the extra and reserve the newer used van. What a hunk of junk and scary to drive.
1. Dirty, disgusting vehicles.
2. Broken window that didn't roll up
3. Duck tape use to hold things together
4. Plan on paying $15 upon exiting the parking lot regardless of when you pick it up.
5. Parked furtherest edge of parking lot
6. Lock box rusted and difficult to open
7. Gas guzzlers
8. No customer service available after hours, even on after-hours number.
9. Poor customer service when available.
10. I received a $35 parking ticket and Kimo's charged me an additional $50 processing fee.
11. I had to go back to Kahului to exchange vehicles. They gave me, what they said was their best van. (see picture of carpet of their best van) I have to say it was a lot better than the first one, but if that was thier best...do not rent from them unless you want a broken, dirty, safety sketchy vehicle.
When I first got into the van, gas gauge showed only 4bars (about 1/4 tank). They said on the dash not to let their cars go below 1/4 tank, probably because they are gas guzzlers and the gas gauges may be faulty. I drove to Starbucks to get a drink which is a couple miles from the the airport. The bars on the gas gauge had dropped 1 bar, I drove another couple miles to the gas station and the gas gauge dropped another bar. (see picture) The next day I had to go back to Kahului to get another car. This time they said they were giving me their best van. Really??? The only thing good about it was that we all had a good time laughing about it. Also all of our friends that were in Maui wanted to always drive!!

Provided by YP.comDO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!!! This is the worst experience I've ever had with a car rental. They are rude and unethical and the cars are horrible.
We expected a well maintained used car in good shape. What we got was a dirty, beat to the ground, van - 110,000 miles, service engine light on, made horrible noises, and infested with ROACHES.!!! The windows were filmy/dirty with poor visibility (tried scrubbing them for a half hour to no avail), the car remote didn't work, car was given to us with less that a quarter tank (is OK but we were not told so lucky we checked), had to pay airport parking fee (not much but something else that was not mentioned), and we paid extra for a four wheel drive and were not given one (they don't even have them). We discovered the noises, service engine light, and roaches on the way out to Hana where we were staying for two nights so were stuck with the car for three days. Not a secure feeling on that road and had roaches in my things - uck. Had to shake everything out, put things in garbage bags etc. When we asked to change the car on our way back through Kahului on the way to Kihei (where we were spending our remaining three nights) - they were rude, unapologetic (telling me the service light and the noises were fine), made no offer to exchange the car and finally said to bring the car by and they'd look at it. We couldn't get back from Hana to their place by 3:00 when they closed so suggested they leave a different car with keys in the lockbox (the way they left our van for us in the airport lot) and we'd leave the van. They said no, we'd have to come the next day. I said that wouldn't work as we'd have to make a special trip up from kihei the next day and also did not want to spend one more night with that car. He hung up on me! We were absolutely not keeping that car another day and driving back up there from Kihei, so dropped off the van at the airport (with key back in lock box), and rented a car at a reputable rental agency. We will contest this car rental through our credit card company. Kimos cost us many hours and much hassle we did not need on our precious Hawaii trip. What a nightmare!

Provided by YP.comI rented an SUV from Kimo's for my 2 week vacation in Maui. The automobiles are older models but Im not fussy! As long as the SUV ran, I was thrilled! My air tire pressure light was on when I went to pick up the car. The mechanics where very helpful and put my safety 1st and removed a nail they saw in the tire. The only concern I have is when I arrived in Maui, I had to walk all the way through the parking lot to Row A and being night time, the airports parking lot lights where not on and it was very difficulty to find the SUV. I did arrive alone to Maui so it was an effort to lug my suitcases through a dark parking lot and it was a long walk to my car. I was a bit nervous being a young woman alone in a dark parking lot but all worked out well! Thank You Kimo as the SUV was great and the price was even better! I visit Maui often and I will be sure to rent a car from Kimo's again when I return!! Mahalo!

Provided by YP.comDO NOT USE KIMOS!!!! I have never had such a horrible experience with a rental car company. Starting with the minor stuff - car was a beater - 110,000 miles, dirty and driven into the ground, they were difficult to deal with, paid extra for a four wheel drive and not given one (they don't even have four wheel drives), car had less than a quarter of tank and we had to pay the airport parking when leaving (only $3, but they should have mentioned it), key remote didn't work. Now for the more significant stuff - windows were filthy - when I spent 30 minutes trying to scrub, I discovered it doesn't come off so had to go to hana with filmy windows. Discovered on road to hana that Service engine light was on and car was making horrible noises - not a comforting thing on that road. The final straw was our discovery (also along the Hana Highway) that the car was teeming with roaches!!! Since we were staying two nights in Hana, we were stuck with the car at that point. I found roaches in my things, had to shake everything thing out, put everything in garbage bags, etc. When, after living with this car for three days, we called - saying we needed to exchange it on the way back to kihei (where we were staying for the last three days), they were rude, interrupted, never apologized or said they'd take care of it. They said the service engine light was fine, that they were familiar with that noise and it was fine. Never agreeing to exchange the car, they said to bring it by and they close at 3. We were in Hana and couldn't get there until 4 so suggested they leave a different car at their place or the airport with key in lockbox and we'd do the exchange. He said no - and to come in the next day. I said that didn't work as we did not want to make a special trip (on our vacation) back to Kahului the next day. He then hung up on me. We were absolutely not driving this car one more day so dropped it off at the airport, rented another car from a reputable agency and will contest this charge through our credit card company. This is a shady operation - cars are not reliable and well maintained as they state. I would have given it zero stars if I could have.
