Maybe you should of had Maui fan center install it since they do specialize in fans and service it instead of going to an electrician to trouble shoot a fan. I will tell you one thing you are totally wrong for going to Home Depot or lowes instead of buying a quality fan from an actual fan store.

If you buy a fan from Maui Fan Center Inc. and it’s 3 months old you better hope it doesn’t fail. Because you will get a quick lesson on how to troubleshoot your fan (that was overpriced but that’s what I liked). My neighbor a licensed electrician tells me I over paid and if you buy a fan from a box store and it fails, that you can return it no problem and they will have that same fan around the store for awhile. I told him I support local businesses. So after the fan fails I call the Maui Fan Center Inc. store, I start getting my instructions on things that could be wrong and steps to take to resolve the issue (remote controlled) he guides me threw some the basics, no luck (if I would have bought the fan from H.D. and called I would have gotten someone that absolutely knew nothing about what was wrong with the fan prompting me to bring it back I wouldn’t have wasted my time)! So how I have to pull out the ladder and he has me taking apart where the conductors are terminated in the ceiling and the remote receiver is located. He has me bypass the remote and be direct off the switch. The light part works how but the fan still doesn’t work. How he wants me to take off light part and take off the bottom canopy and check the connects in their; but to no if you connection are bad you need to have the power on. I tell him I have a metal ladder and I am not sure I comfortable with working with the power on. No Problem they can come fix it later in the day for $55 service call. A friend and I installed this fan so I am not expert on installing fans hardly a novice so at this point of troubleshooting I am over it ; I don’t want to ask the electrician(neighbor) to look at the fan because he warned me about buying a fan from Maui Fan Center Inc.. I get the electrician. The electrician says yes that the fan is getting power. The fan is bad he will take it down and I can return it. So I call Maui Fan Center Inc. have the electrician explain to the man what steps he had taken to troubleshoot the fan. The electrician take on the fan: was it was getting power and there is something internally wrong, it’s a warranty issue and should be exchanged for a new one. Well that’s not what Maui Fan Center Inc. wanted to hear. Maui Fan Center Inc. tells the electrician he needs to further troubleshoot the fan, at this point the electrician was just their as to make sure I had done everything right when I bypassed the remote receiver and that it was more then something basic wrong he had done more than enough. I end up taking it back. They didn’t give me a new fan; they took apart every factory wire connection accept one that connects the motor housing to the lower canopy the light is attached to. Ok, it worked in the store it wasn’t all screwed together. I have the electrician reinstall the fan praying it’s going to work, no fan and the light worked. I just tell the electrician can you troubleshoot the fan I will pay you. Ended up that the only connector they didn’t replace was a bad. The electrician made it work, but feels they should have given me a new fan, he say it can attack up again, it took 3 months for it to surface this time. So I had the electrician leave it alone for now; the Maui Fan Center Inc. told me if it didn’t work that they would come on Sunday to look at it for free this is Thursday(thanks for the making it like you’re doing me a favor by warranting your products). So I have a almost 400 dollar fan that can be problematic .
