We rented two bikes on Feb. 11 and all seemed well. My wife's bike started to make a scraping noise and it turned out that the left-front V-brake lever return spring was gone. Must have broken or fallen off. Because we were several very steep descents away from Kona we changed bikes so that I could nurse it back to the rental place.



When I returned the bikes, I told the clerk about the problem, so that they could fix the bike before the next rental. She was very friendly, but called for her manager. She came and clearly had no clue but looked the bike over anyway. She then called for the store manager. He started to look over the entire bike again because, as he told me, we usually find many more things broken with people like you. He then got on the phone to ask a mechanic for the price he was going to charge. When I mentioned that I had no intention to pay for the repair he got really obnoxious and told me to "shut up". That seemed the right moment to push back a little bit. I told him that he actually should offer me a discount for the inconveniene. He then became real impolite and rude and charged the two rentals + $15 for the part. I told him that I would call my credit card company to dispute his charges. He then threatened to withhold my entire down payment (which he actually didn't do). I called 1-800-CITI MASTER, right in his store. They have now settled the dispute and we just got credit for one rental and the part.



Please make sure that you never use cash with these guys when you buy or rent something. And be prepared to be insulted by the idiot of a store manger in case something happens. Or, if there is another rental place in town, go there.
