Provided by YP.comI can understand how they don't have a lot of time to make phone calls, but charging $5 to call in prescriptions to the pharmacy and also for calling my insurance? Do they really think that people have that kind of money these days? As soon as I can, I'm switching doctor's offices.
Patients can avoid prescription charges by requesting refills at an office visit since scripts written or sent in at the time of an appointment are free. When a patient calls in for a script between appointments, we do need to charge because the physician spends time finding and reviewing the patient's chart to ensure the medication requested is appropriate and safe for the patient. While $5 for a script may seem like a lot, it is certainly cheaper than an $85 (our minimum price) office call. We do value our patients and their financial well-being, which is why we do not necessarily require that patients come in for an office call every time they need a prescription refill.
