Provided by YP.comI am with the rest of you here. No negative stars to add. However I am connected with Federal Trade Commission and Attorney General and we may be able to do a class Action law suit if there are enough of us. American camp ground has not sent me a statement since 2011 after which my spouse and I declined an upgrade, they stated we were no longer members. My spouse is now deceased and it's been a hard couple years, working on getting my credit in order and discovered that American Campground has been reporting me to Conrad credit since 2011. My address has never changed nor has my email or phone number. Conrad credit not able to help me and I cannot get anyone from American camp ground to speak to me. American camp ground membership is supposed to be honored by Thousand Trails and Encore and I camp at organizations through both and why they try to look up my American Campground Membership they cannot find that I exist so I cannot use it and assume just like they told me in 2011 that it was cancelled. Conrad credit is at least telling me they are trying to collect for 1400 which is not the end of the world and I would pay it if I knew the credit reporting would stop, but no one from American camp grounds will even talk to me. I have sent certified letters with no response. I can give you all attorney general info and Federal trade Commission info . Anyone Stay away from this fraudulant organization. My contact is [email protected]

Provided by YP.comSorry no negative stars to offer...We were fast talked into a membership by Vinni and the following spring things changed, instead of two free golf passes to over 300 resorts it was BOGO at a few dozen. Maintenance fees and coast to coast travel upgrade never explained just shuffled in the paperwork. CC billing expired and they send off to their watchdog CONRAD who strong arm and ruin your credit as well as continue to take the fees.
Have never stayed a day or used a thing in the place but have about 1200 left to pay off and pretty much out my 4k plus maintenance fees... all the talk about family and life time BS.. can only pray to God we get a class action lawsuit and get all the money back

Provided by YPmobileWe have been members since before the pool and putt putt and was a great experience (different owners of course).
Since then we rarely go, for all the same reasons as the others. But if u keep to your self it's still a good time.
The ponds and beach are a joke between the bird crap and weeds it sucks. Can't bring in ur own wood and they sell crap wood for way too much..
I would give my membership away, but who ever gets it
will have dues till they die.
I've been a member for almost 30 years, and where else can u camp for free (except for dues)...

Provided by YPmobileIn response to Tom H. and others on here, my husband and I feel your anger and frustration as we have been through the same exact scenario it was as if i were reading a letter I had just wrote. Your letter is exactly our situation along with many others I'm sure. Tom we would like to know what you found out from the attorney general's office? If you could contact us we would appreciate it 586-431-1108 (Ken)

Provided by YP.comMy wife & I bought a membership in 2000. Health issues, drastic change in income, distance, & price of gas are some reasons we have never spent a night in the campground. Found out our membership is worthless. Wanted me to spend $11,999 on membership "upgrade" that might enable me to sell to someone at some price. Lifetime membership = lifetime maintenance fees. Nowhere is this spelled out in contract. They offered to terminate my membership if I paid another $1,400. When they realized I was still upset--after their attempt at an explanation--they offered one day only deal of $540 to terminate. Obviously, termination "fee" is purely arbitrary & they could not really explain where that number came from. If you camp a lot, are supporter of the camp & management, I offer you a "free" membership. I will gladly transfer it to you--but you will have to pay maintenance fees. Mine are $280/ year. Any takers out there? Contact me by posting on this site & we will talk.

Provided by YP.comThe only way to rate this campgrounds practices is with a negative star which there isn't one here. I was at SLR 7-12-14 and they haven't changed a bit. Still wanting to get more money out of it's members. I received a letter 3 weeks before from them telling how the rumors weren't true about them closing the campgrounds. That they closed for the winter months to lower operating expenses and ended their contract with their phone service provider and got a new more affordable bundle deal but were unable to keep the old phone numbers. This was followed by a brief explaination regarding the Sister Parks/Reciprocal Parks. "As many of you may know over the last 20 yrs we have changed reciprocal programs and sister park agreements; as our agreement with you allows us to do. (Jay pointed this out, #9 on back of your contract.) We have always had your best interest in mind and always strive to provide the most benefits and privileges to our outdoor recreational life stye, while keeping the cost down. We no longer except Outdoor Adventure members under any sister park agreement to allow more availability to our members at SLR. As a result of this we can no longer go to those parks under the sister park agreement. However, I have negotiated a deal for all SLR members to get into those parks through a new reciprocal program. This program will come at no additional cost to you. To get your new cards or if you have questions call Charlie at (269)459-8307. I called and made appointment to get that new card that would let me still go to the Sister Parks. After I got my new picture taken I met with Jay and he wanted me to purchase the new and better upgraded membership that wouldn't be available till next year for a mere $11,999. Less if I got it now plus I could pay half of what I would owe for yearly fees between now and when I reached 75 years old and never pay another yearly fee. I told him no thanks I just came for the new photo ID to get me into the sister parks. He said that in order to do that I would have to purchase another reciprocal program for $150 a year and pay $10 a night at the campgrounds. When I mentioned the letter he said thats what Charlie who is marketing says but not honored by SLR. So basically I was told since I don't want to give them more money for less I wasted my time going out there. Jay also said that they are not selling anymore memberships just as 2 other couples came in. They over heard me complaining and they didn't look to happy. Hopefully I saved them from my fate. If anyone knows of any legal actions being taken at this time I would appreciate information on it. Here is a list of the phone numbers I have to contact SLR hope they are of help. (269)459-8304 Billing, 459-8306 Marketing, 459-8307 Charlie, 459-8308 Reservations

Provided by YP.comIt was 1998 when we bought our membership in the ACI K-Zoo campground and it was a great place to stay. With 4 kids there were always activities for them and the staff genuinely cared and was very nice to be around. After several years it was sold to Ray and Shawna, but since I do not know them I cannot speak to the type of people that they are, but here is what I can tell you. The overall moral of the campground has tanked, most of the permanent resident workers, who I might add take the best sites are total jerks to be around and if you are not part of their little group then they treat your children like crap. Most of what they promised when we bought into it still is not completed, and they are still promising it today. The biggest red flag for me was when a man in a golf cart came flying down the poolhouse drive and came very close to my small children, when I told him to slow down he proceeded to cuss me out(in front of my kids) and told me he could do whatever he wanted and that he would kick my #*@ out if I didn't like the way he acted...turns out it was Rays brother. It appears as if all they care about is making more sales and not investing in the overall improvement and upkeep of the park. I have tried for days to contact them via email, phone and even contacting other parks in Michigan(as we are from Indiana) but all I get is # is disconnected or it rings busy for days. While we love to come to K-Zoo the overall experience is not fun at all, so who knows...maybe they will sell it to someone who actually cares or they will see the error of their ways and change, doubtful on either count but it doesn't hurt to dream.

Provided by YP.comOnce again, family is camping at the Kalamazoo Campgrounds and we have lost the power, now the water is off. They have closed the bathrooms and the pool, and the showers. How is anyone suppose to enjoy their camping experience, when every time we go there, they "lose" power. Come on people! get a new generator, use some ot the "Fees" to fix up the place instead of putting it in the owners pockets!! it is such an inconvenience without power or water; showers or pool.

Provided by YP.comWe cancelled our membership within the 3 day grace period and still have not received a refund from the campground. We talked to the sales office and they said that we were under no obligation to the campground, but they still have not reversed the $7500 charge on the credit card. This has been going on now since the 24th of June. Every time we call, we get told to leave a message and someone will call back. No one ever does. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and with the State Attorney Generals office.

Provided by YP.comIf you didn't become a member why are you commenting? This membership is the only thing like it in the world, and has helped my family and i take trips we never thought were possible before. Ive been to Australia, Japan, the Netherlands, and countless nights of camping. Just because your biggest vacation was to this place for some free stuff, don't talk down on a good thing, please and thank you!

Provided by YP.comI bought the package and it's well worth it. Especially if you like to camp a lot. Their are several campgound around the United States that you can camp at and they are free once you buy the package. I stayed at the Kzoo site about a dozen times last year and they had lots of activities for the kids and adults. It is a members only camp ground and so are the other ones. They have a very nice lodge with Wifi, kitchen and big screen TV. Bathrooms and showers are alway clean.
Once you purchase a membership, it is good for life and you can put it in your will and pass it to your kids. There is a quartly fee, which I pay only $45. This is locked in for life also. I am not sure what the fee's are now, but it really depends on how good you are at negotiating.
We haven't checked out any of the other campgrounds yet, but we plan to this year.

Provided by YP.comThis ia a private campground, not open to the public, instead, one must buy a piece of paper (for around $7,000) that says they own a share of the campground. The campground is as ordinary as any other...but not worth the expense of a costly piece of paper. If you signed up to visit this campground, be prepared for a high pressure sales pitch by a rather un-attentive sales rep. Also be aware of the "FREE" gift gimmicks that come with this pre-arranged visit!!! Especially the $100 free gas voucherS. Yes, you get the $100 gas vouchers...over the course of 4 months... and only after you purchase $100 in gas per month, save the reciepts...send them in to the company and get a $25 gas card in return. WOW, a lot of work for the FREE gas. The FREE 3 day/2night stay I'm sure is valid...but no phone number or address is on the voucher so the stay can be easil;y booked...AND according to the voucher...you have to sit through yet another high pressure 90 minute tour of the campground. Buyer beware!!!!
