The mission of Waimea Community Education is to meet the educational needs of North Hawaii residents, providing the community with quality, affordable instruction for job training and development of professional skills, in addition to learning opportunities for personal enjoyment. The Vision of Waimea Community Education is to expand the program through careful planning, determining the needs of the general and business community, and enabling individuals of all races, ages and economic situations to become life-long learners and contributors to our democratic society. About the Program Established in 1984, Waimea Community Education is a Hawaii non-profit 501 3 educational organization providing the communities of North Hawaii with quality, affordable education. Waimea Community Education is supported by the Parker School Trust Corporation, established by Richard Smart in 1978 1978 to further education in North Hawaii. The program is also funded through class tuition fees and community donations. Parker School Trust Corporation is additionally a benefactor of Parker School, a college preparatory school educating grades K-12. Waimea Community Education offers year-round classes in subjects ranging from languages and cultural studies, to business, computer education, art and music, personal enrichment, health, communications, and classes for children and seniors. New classes are added to the schedule with each session, reflecting the diverse interests and needs of the community. Proposals from individuals who are interested in teaching are gladly accepted at any time. Local businesses may request specialized instruction geared for the workplace, and community members who are looking for specific classes are urged to contact the director so that we may continue to expand our offerings. Classes are run throughout the year in three distinct sessions: Fall/Winter, Spring, and Summer. A program announcement is mailed at the beginning of each session to all post office box holders in the surrounding community. We encourage online registration through this website or by calling our office. Waimea Community Education facility is located in the heart of Waimea on Mamalahoa Highway. We also offer classes at the historic Parker School. Classes are held during the day, evenings, and weekends. We invite you to participate in our program, whether it is as a student or an instructor.
