Provided by YP.comTERRIBLE SERVICE , UNPROFESSIONAL & HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I called the day before to set an appointment up for 6 straight back feed in braids . I get there and the lady doesn’t tell me my hair is supposed to be washed & blow dried. Luckily Khe Salon was down the street so I went down there to get my hair washed and blow dried , I come back and they gave me a different lady that DIDNT even know how to braid thick hair , she was grunting & being super dramatic when she braided my hair. Then charged me an additional $10 because she said my braids where long ( which they weren’t) . She kept yanking my head & my hair looked nothing like the picture I showed her , I showed her stitch braids an I got traditional braids with my natural hair poking out the braids . It was horrible . A waisted $70 . Never again.

Provided by YPmobileI have done my hair a couple of times at this place (Senegalese twist, single braids, three braids, cornrows , and weave). I liked the outcome each time. The braiders are friendly and really quick because sitting down all day to get my hair done is not appealing at all. I like to go in and come out a couple of hours later which has been my experience in this shop. The prices are not too bad either compared to other shops. I'll definitely recommend isha sister hair braiding.

Provided by YP.comI PAID 240.00 and they messed up so bad on 2 of my daughters crochet braids after I complain they attempted to do their hair right. Thats the only reason why i give them 2 stars but anyway I will not be spending my money there anymore!

Provided by YPmobileHORRIBLE they braid entirely too tight they pulled my edges out rude & all above! I would not recommend to others smh. My hair only been in for a week and 2 braids have fell out leaving a complete bald spot this is insane & should've never happened. Rude service I will never show my face in that area again! My rating for this is a 0.5 because the hair turned out nice but the point of the hair do was to grow my hair out not rip it out!!!

Provided by YPmobileOmg the worst. First off, the ladies who did my hair were super heavy handed. I repeatedly asked them to be gentle and that seemed to upset them. The braids were so tight my scalp shone. My hair broke in clumps. Also they wouldn't braid all of my own hair in, at the end she started to clip the hairs hanging out, basically trying to give me a haphazard haircut. Also gave me attitude when I said absolutely no cutting my hair.
The guy who owns the place has the worst manners. He wouldn't allow me to use my own hair for the braiding. He continuously walked through the shop and talked crap. He was verbally abusive towards one of the girls braiding hair and they got into a full blown fight. Right there in front of customers. This place was insane. When I finally took my hair down, I had to get a hair cut.

Provided by YPmobileI called Friday evening to ask how much and what time.. I was told $170 for my Micros and to be there at 9am. I was there a little early thinking hopefully, they may start early. Come to find out they told several people to be there at 9am, there were only 2 braiders there and they had already started on clients.. so it was 8 of us waiting.. The owner came in and apologized, but stated its not her fault that the braiders decided to go to church.. that's not the issue, the issue is you told us to be here at a certain time like we had an appointment.. to tell us we are basically first come first serve.. ok so finally around 10am braiders started coming in they take us to the back to pick out our hair, I pick wet-n-wavy, at no time was I told it would be an additional $10. Ok, so after sitting for 4 1/2 hrs finally a braider comes, one was rude said I have natural hair and she can't do it.. she was loud and disrespectful! The second lady comes and she was really sweet, said no problem, braids my hair with no problem.. I was told that if your hair is short in some spots it would be an additional $20 .. are you serious???? Then they wait till my hair is done to tell me I owed and additional $10, because I got the wavy hair! No ma'am! Tell me this upfront... Tell me this when I first get there not 10hrs later. One of the braiders said, "please don't bother her for more money." Because she knew that wasn't right.. the only who spoke up. This place is just about money, not customer satisfaction.. I'm not made of money and my time is very precious..

Provided by YP.comI called to schedule an appointment with Isha Sisters Braids. I asked if Saturday was available the woman who took the call said yes and didn't even take my name- I should have known better at that point, but thought they may have a lot of openings.
I arrived at about 8:10 for my 8:00 appointment (feeling bad about being late) to find that the woman who was doing my hair wouldn't be in until 8:30.
Then I sat getting my hair braided until NOON, only to find out, after taking to ask on my own, that the ends of my natural hair were sticking out of every twist from 1/4 to 1/2 inch. Then, when I said that I didn't want them to look messy like that, the woman tells me that they just CUT MY HAIR OFF wherever it was sticking out.
I told her that wouldn't be an option because I was using braids as a protective style to grow my hair. If they cut it, then it would be uneven all over the place. Then another women in the shop said that the twists just weren't tight enough. That woman came over to show us how to twist it properly. The woman who was doing my hair initially told me that it would be $30 to cover the 1/3 of my hair she had already braided.
I went to their bathroom to tie my messed up hair back so I could go home. Then the woman who was managing the shop convinced me to let the other lady do my hair, so my day wouldn't be wasted. That would require me to start all over and stay until at least 7pm (after arriving at 8am, that's an 11 hour day at a salon).
I was willing to do that because I needed my hair done. The new woman who knew how to twist properly wasn't going to be available for another half hour, so I went to get lunch at McDonalds.
When I returned, the woman who was doing my hair initially says that I forgot to pay her. I asked if this meant that I would have to pay twice. She says yes and that I had to pay her for the portion she did. I then gave her the $30 and told them that I didn't want any services from them.
I am glad I asked to see my braids, as they would have allowed me to look sloppy AND EVEN WORSE would have cut my hair off to try to hide it. They are totally NOT worth the $200 I was going to spend.
I do not recommend their shop-- just about every negative comment on here is true. I was patient with the talking and the horrible customer service, as we have to settle for cosmetologists who have attitudes as if they are doing their clients a favor instead of providing a service in the Midwest's Black community.
If you want your hair done and not CUT OFF, I highly recommend looking at another shop. $200 really is a lot of money for a hair service, ladies-- We are hard working African-American women who deserve to be respected as clients and provided with quality services, especially at these prices-- All those who agree should take their money elsewhere.

Provided by YPmobileI've been going there since I moved back from Atlanta in 2006 I only let Doris do my tree braids she's the best she was the only one who knew how to do them for awhile I'm very satisfied thanks Doris or Delois

Provided by YPmobileThis was my second time at the shop. The first time I went I got the box braids. They did a really good job. I received lots of compliments and I was able to keep the braids for close to 5 months. On this particular visit I went around 9am to have my braids taken out. I was able to walk right in and I had two ladies working on my head. I went back around 3:30p to have new braids put in. Again I walked right in...I had three ladies braiding my hair. I was out of the shop in about 5 hours! My hair looks great! I will definitely go back!

Provided by YP.comI decided to try this place because the first braiding salon I went to was small and dirty (it wasn’t unusual to see a roach crawl by). This one had good reviews on YP and Yelp, and I figured I could save some money since they had their own supply of hair.
First of all, their old location on James A Reed Rd close, which they didn’t TELL me I made my appointment to get kinky twists taken out and tree braids put in, even when I double-checked the address with them. I drove to a closed salon down in KCMO at 9am. I ended up driving another 12 miles to KCK. I got up getting there at 11. Three women got started on my hair almost immediately, which was good- one of the few pros to this shop, honestly.
The woman at the shop socialize a lot in another language, which doesn’t bother me that much, especially in the morning because I don’t feel like talking anyway. But, you know how you can tell when someone’s talking about you? It doesn’t matter if they’re speaking another language, people will act differently when they’re gossiping and you can feel it. The woman taking down my hair were loudly chatting one minute and whispering the next. They bounced back and forth between English and their native language; so the only words I caught were “three of us” and “wrong people,” the latter of which was said over and over again. Since one of the women made a comment about my braids being hard earlier, I realized they were talking about me going to bad stylist. The comments weren’t directly about me, but it still made me feel uncomfortable.
I mention that last part because I thought it was incredibly tacky. It doesn’t matter what language you’re speaking, you don’t stand there and gossip about someone who’s IN THE ROOM, let alone someone whose hair you’re doing.
As far as the rest of the experience goes, a different woman put in my tree braids. She was much nicer, but the braids were TIGHT. I clenched my teeth the whole time. I thought it was just me at first, but I looked around and literally every customer seemed to be in pain. One woman actually had tears in her eyes. Even someone getting a weave was rubbing her head like she was in an ad for migraine medication. I wore sew-ins for 6 years and never grabbed my head in pain when I got it done. The hair they used for me was Wet-N-Wavy, which I now know is horrible. It was frizzy when I got it done and, despite using the detangling spray, got matted after a few days. This hair looked worse in a week than regular brand (Model Model Pose) looks after 2 ½ months.
Some of the braids came out (extension hair, not my own thank God) a couple of days later, which is ridiculous for new braids. To make things worse, I didn’t save any money. They charge $50 to take down hair, so I ended up paying the same exact price as the last place I went to. I guess this is what I get for trying to save money. The salon was cleaner- I’ll give them that- but some of the stylists were tactless, the hair was poor quality, and it hurt a ton. I took aspirin for several days after getting my hair done. I can’t believe they had the gall to talk about me going to the wrong people when they gave me the worse hairstyle I’ve had in years. I’m done trying to save pennies. I have an appointment with a licensed beautician in a few days.
Guys, braids are not to supposed to hurt that much! That’s not a sign of a good hairdo, that’s a sign of hair loss. Go to styleseat.com or a site like it, type in the style you want and the location, and find someone who knows what they’re doing. Also, KS and MO don’t require braiding shops to have cosmetology licenses because they don’t use chemicals, so look for someone who does braids plus relaxers/dyes. If they do both, then they’re licensed beauticians and more likely to know how to do hair without hurting you.

Provided by YPmobileI hate this place. They yell constantly at each other in my ear. Every time I've gone here, I've made an appointment. But I have never gotten in at my appointment time. The guy who appears to be the manager really tries to keep them in order. He fails at his job. The only reason I keep going back is because they do a great job on my braids. I love my hair and get so many compliments. But their customer service could use a makeover.

Provided by YPmobileYou know as you get older you tend to forget a lot of things, such as why you no longer pay people good money for bad service.... Don't get me wrong I know the job can get kinda boring when your braiding hair all day. But when you come too work to visit your friends from the old country that you haven't seen in a month or two, or the social club... Please do what I pay you to do braid not socialize with your sister. I guess that's the reason why it' should be called isha family reunion instead of isha sister braids. It the second braider 4hrs to braid 20% of my granddaughter head, because she can't do two things at once, then when she was told too stop talking so much she slowed down even more.. No I'm not mad or upset because its was 4 years ago , and now it will be a cold day in hell before I come back here. The starter was good but the finisher needs to change profession ,I guess I should remind her that my fax dollars is what's paying for her pel grant for her to go to school. That's what I'm saying they talked about everything

Provided by YP.comAppts are irrelevant. They take folks as you walk in the shop. If you want tree braids or any form of cornrolls, get there early because there are only 3-4 braiders who know how to cornroll. I was there at 9 which was my appt time, and I had to wait for a braider to arrive. I waited 45min. I asked them to braid my daughter micros big and loose and it worked well. Yes, you will here the employees argue, scream and curse. Its un-professional, but at the price I pay, I really don't expect much customer service. BTW, I only wear cornrolls. I have been there 3 times.

Provided by YPmobileToday is probably my 5th visit, you would think as a regular customer they would be friendly and accommodating. I can't stand tight braids so I ask them to braid it loosely and gently.... Which they should be able to accommodate to. The braids are tighter than hell, and the two ladies braiding my hair are telling me it's not right. This is my scalp and it is tight, so don't argue with me. They are more worried about the immediate finished look than your edges, and hair falling out. On top of this all I requested a braider to do my hair one that was gentle and professional so this shouldnt have been a problem. I requested this person on the phone, in person and on paper.... Why they couldn't accommodate is beyond me. Google somewhere else.......

Provided by YP.comThis shop is a hot mess...they change their prices in the middle of doing your hair. I have been there twice and both times I have seen two stylist yelling at each other. Both times I had an appt and they seem like they don't care because I still had to wait an hour to get started. My final draw was when I make an appt to have my braids taken out and when I got there 20 mins before my appt they told me they don't have time to take them out. I told them I drove 35 mins to this shop. No one seem like they care everyone started ignoring me. I moved here less then a year ago and this is the second shop I have been to. I am starting to get disappointed in KC.

Provided by YP.comI got my hair done on 16 May 2012, The next day my braids stated to fall out.I told them I didn't want a center part and that's what I got a center part. I went to the store and asked the day before how much it would cost if I brought my own hair because their hair quality sucked, they said $150 After getting half way on my head, the braider says to me that she has to charge me of $170 even though I brought my own hair because curly hair is harder to braid. I understand some creole, I was the there at 0930 and everyone in the shop to include me got micros and I was the last one to leave at 6 pm because I had issues with the price. I have been getting micros for the past 10 years and I have never seen such an unprofessional bunch of women. If you care about the quality of your hair, service and having your hair done in a timely manner then do not recommend you go to this salon.

Provided by YP.comFado Hair Braiding is the worse braiding shop i been to. They are lazy. They rush through your hair and do a sloppy job.

Provided by YP.comWow. So i just moved here, looked this place up since its close. Read the reviews and mostly positive- but i guess i should have taken the advice of the recent unsatisfied. So i made an appointment four days before i was coming in, so that i could guarantee getting an early appointment so i could get in and out quickly. When i made the appointment i asked if two people could braid my hair ( i got micro) and she said yes. Ok so i got to my appointment right on time and she didnt even ask if i did have one she just thought i was a walk in, luckily i got there before all these other walk ins and apparently before all the other stylist because i was suppose to start at nine a.m. and i was finally started on at nine thirty by one stylist while everyone else got two or even three people working on them! So she is braiding my hair for an hour before she finally says something to the manager, who by the way sucks at life, who proceeds to ignore her, then all the yelling starts, over my head between two stylists and the mangager still isnt saying anything while all the others laugh about it. I feel really uncomfortable at this point and my sylist has stopped braiding my hair so she can argue, and this guy who i thought was the owner or manager who i realized was a glorified shop boy finally makes them stop. Such an unprofessional place! Finally another girl finally starts to help on my head, but she is yelling across the store to the others in my ear and not going very fast. At this point clients who came in well after me are further into their hairstyles or about to be finish. I have been getting my hair braided for ten years so i know the drill. On my head it takes two women five and a half hours tops to do my hair, but here it took seven hours as i watched the very last person who came in after me leave with a finished head. So finally i said something to the manager and all she could say is, well with micros its longer, evryone else had simpler hair styles you saw how busy we are. Well i can say, thats not my problem, i made my appointment i expected it to be professional and done in a timely matter, i dont want your excuses. Sorry this is so long, but they ruined my day and they have lost a pontential long term client. If you just want your hair braided and dont care about customer service then so be it enjoy, but if service, quality and speed are what you are looking for, keep looking and let me know if you have found a better place.
