John A Taylor, III, MD, is a professor and director of basic urologic research and the coleader of the D3ET Program at the University of Kansas Medical Center. A native of New York, he completed his medical degree at Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City, where he stayed to complete his internship and residency in general surgery and urology. He subsequently served for three years on active duty at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, where he was director of medical education for urology and assistant professor at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS).
