In operation for more than 100 years, the American Hereford Association conducts research and experiments in the breeding of Hereford cattle and compiles and preserves pedigree records for owners and breeders. The association participates in and promotes the arrangement of fairs, exhibitions and cattle shows to encourage the breeding of Hereford cattle. Its subsidiary, Hereford Publications, serves cattle ranches and publishes a monthly magazine. The American Hereford Association coordinates the Sire of Distinction and the Certified Hereford Beef Sire of Distinction recognition programs. The association is a sole member of Certified Hereford Beef, which markets beef products under the Certified Hereford Beef brand. In addition, the American Hereford Association provides computer consultation, breeding, marketing, and herd planning and management services.
