Comet Industries is comprised of three companies: Rail Products, Communications & Signal and Industrial Products. Communications & Signal provides technology solutions for railroad customers, including AEI systems for railcar identification, radio frequency surveys and microwave communications maintenance. It also maintains an in-house radio repair facility. Industrial Products provides back-up power generators to the residential and industrial markets. Rail Products operates from a separate warehouse and weld facility in Kansas City, Mo., which services the freight car needs of most Class I railroad and short-line railroad customers, as well as individual car shops throughout the country. Comet Industries was founded in 1963 under the name Comet Electronics. The company maintains its headquarters and a sales office in Kansas City, as well as a branch in Shreveport, La.
