The Kansas City Missouri Police Department, established in 1874, is a law enforcement agency that protects residents lives, property and individual rights and maintains peace and order. It is internationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). The Kansas City Missouri Police Department supports the Explorer Program, which is a worksite-based program for young men and women in the age group of 14 to 20. The department maintains a citizens police academy that provides training programs related to law, firearms instruction, defensive tactics, first aid, patrol procedures and investigations. The Kansas City Missouri Police Department offers a variety of services to residents, businesses and visitors, such as concealed weapon permit, fingerprinting, domestic violence help, and parking and traffic law enforcement.
